The Gun Appreciation Thread

So I ask the moderators to ban all pictures of the gun fetish.

The gun fetish is deeply offensive and evil and should have no place on Typology Central.

I hope that one day you receive treatment for your hoplophobia, Victor.

Irrational fears are a terrible burden to bear, and I feel for you.

Anyone ever used a SIG?

Very well crafted, comfortable and extremely accurate pistol.

You should rather compare crime rate and the raw number of weapons in circulation.
In Europe, we don't have the problem you have. In the US, the average homicide rate is 5.7 per 100.000 inhabitants per year.

Guess why.[/QUOTE]

The way we treat drugs in this country, and the dealers and gangs that result from it would be my guess, considering I'd put them as responsible for probably about 2-3 out of that 5.7 murders per 100k.

Another thread where I 100% agree with Victor.

Gun fetish is an absolute perversion, since whatever you say, these tools were crafted and invented for a single purpose.

I pity those who can fantasize with guns (And I fear Freud was deeply correct about those fantasies). When you'll be on the other side of the bullet, maybe you'll understand. When you'll see for real what kind of damage they can do to a human body, maybe you'll begin to think with your heads instead of your balls...

Guns were designed to kill, I'll give you that. But as deplorable and permanent as death may be, I do subscribe to the idea of a justifiable homicide.

If you are a hardcore pacifist who believes that under no circumstances a person has the right to kill another person, well then, I respect your opinion, however I do not agree.

When I served in the military, I was given a weapon to protect the country's interests. I think it's only fair that as a civilian I am entitled to own a personal weapon to protect my own interest, should they ever be jeopardized.

I don't think that makes me a pervert, as you imply.

Hrm, never seen that before, sorry. Or I would have said something about it earlier already. =/

To be very honest, I have been on "the other side" already. Not the greatest feeling, I give you that. But personally I don't see me "thinking with my balls" anyways.
For me those are tools to protect people. When someone is doing...stuff to your beloved and you know exactly that you are not gonna make it, because physically he is much stronger than you are. You have to think and act very quick, or your beloved will get seriously hurt. The only chance you and your beloved have is that that guy gets winged into a foot or arm. If defending and saving another person from serious, real danger makes me a pervert, I am very guilty I guess. I do that whenever there is need for it. With or without tools. It's not that I go around with stuff and randomly assault people, sure not. But what should I do, in such a situation? Step up to the guy, trying to hit him while he ends my beloveds life? Would you?
I am very sorry for your bad memories linked to guns. Tho...don't we all have some sort of bad memories like that, somehow involving death, destruction, pain and chaos?
Sure, life would be much "better" without all those things. But there are fucked people out there, so in the end the question is...your and your families life or his. .___.

I seriously don't think people who actually save people should be put into the "pervert drawer". I mean it's not that they just randomly aim at some important parts. They actually have rules. Arms and legs, nothing else. For everything else you get in trouble.
And people who actually only aim at paper-targets aren't pervs anyways.
Heh, but maybe I am just too "simple".

It'd be ignorant to assume that everyone dislikes guns, or that since you disagree with their existance that they shouldn't be learned about, posted on, or pictured. If you don't like them and have little to say constructive about them, please start a new thread entitled "The Anti-Gun thread" and post your woes there. Your derailing is not welcomed.

On to what I was going to ask.

More experienced gun-buyers and enthusiasts, you will be more adept than I to answer my friend's question. If someone, female in particular, were going to look for a gun to own.. with little prior knowledge, what would you suggest? It's a give in that aesthetics are slightly valued, but not necessary.

I agree with this ;) But although I cannot answer for Policemen since I didn't go through their training I know as an MP we're taught center mass. Most the time arms and legs in a high stress situation are too hard targets to aim at and the risk of the bullet going through is higher, along with other dangers like that one bullet not being enough if it's in an extremity. Also with the legs, there's a chance of hitting that main artery that would make you bleed out in minutes.

May I suggest a Hello Kitty High Capacity .45?

A bit more information might make it easier...what kind of weapon are they/you looking for? Handgun, Shotgun, Rifle?

The problem is that this is an international site - open to all.

We try not to gratuitously offend anyone.

Unfortunately the gun fetish does offend Australians - so much so that our government made a most popular decision and banned guns.

So I ask the moderators to not allow the posting of gun pornography pictures.

Of course I do think the written discussion of gun pornography or the written discussion of gun perversion should be openly permitted.

It doesn't matter if it offends people. Everything offends someone, so if you go that route you'll have to shut off the internet if you want to be fair. But life isn't fair.

You are not just offending someone, you are offending all Australians and our democratically elected government.

It seems odd to me that you would choose to offend an ally.

It would suggest to me that this is beyond your conscious control, and you are acting out your unconscious fantasies.

It would seem more important to explore the content of your unconscious fantasies rather than continue offending an ally.

I mean what you are doing doesn't make sense - so I can only conclude it is an irruption of unconscious, irrational fantasy.

And what is worse is that it is a group fantasy - and so all the more powerful.

I know not all Australians supported the near-universal gun ban, because I've read about it.

When you hear about a law being passed in the USA, I probably disapproved of that too.
