Can you write a poem on-the-spot? (Doesn’t have to rhyme, mind you.)
How inspired are you?

Let’s start right now! 1... 2...

I hear the whispers of the crisp breeze,
The soft giggling of the rivers,
The sighs of the naked trees -

And they sing sweetly to me
As I cry in silence,
Holding in my hands
The thorns of yesterday’s rose

Oh heavens! This unspoken poetry
Is music to my wounded heart...

Could I write a poem right there on the spot?
I can't really think of a reason why not...
You might not believe what I say is true,
But I don't really need to prove anything to you.:smoke:

I suck eggs
You suck rocks
Mosquitos suck legs
Feet suck socks

If glimpses of dreams were all we could see,
Would you meet me a thousand times just to forget me?
Each moment we're here we are somebody new.
Without memories, what is left of us that's true?

”No! It wasn’t me!”
I scream into the abyss
The response? Silence.

Everything ends.
The compounding heaviness of one sliver of nothing atop another.
Slow and crushing onslaught.
Frantic grasping toward an above abyss
Cracking bones beneath.
Thrashing desperation.
Suffocating nothingness
A still husk.
A quiet void.

Within each moment,
We create a universe
Of endless choices

That passing feeling of acute dread,
When you begin to hear the song of lead.
Such a line of thoughts, so hard to shed,
What a strange sensation of cold metal pressing against my head.

Silver dreams of golden hearts
Are eternally elusive

What good are such illusions
When you wake to feel
Nothing but a lake of tears
Flooding down a pale face?

I don't know
Whether to call you stone,
Withstanding every arrow
That dares to touch your heart's fort.

Or whether
To call you water,
Absorbing the painful storms
That fray your sails and upend your boat.

I once thought you
Descended from the heavens and stars.
But, I know you to be of this earth,
Teeming with chaos and crying for support.

Let us travel this cosmos,
Free of guards and barriers amongst us,
Let us be of and for each other,
And to fear and shame, be an antidote.

Sand and Stone

I am not just scenery.

Born of reef, shell and bone, I am constantly regenerating.

Transforming the discarded.

The sun colors me and I am appreciative.

The sea perfumes me and I am fragrant.

The wind scatters me, and I am filled with Wanderlust.

There is a pulse within my particles that most feel yet do not have the language for.

But I do.

And so do the birds that fly overhead and the treasures that the sea gives up.

Where salt meets land, I am home.

The sacred passageway between sea and land.

Bountiful and forgiving.

I take on the heels of strangers who travel between land and the sea.

For better or worse, they leave their mark.

I am more than just a subtle boundary.

I can transform into stone.

Full and heavy, pliable and yielding.

I am both soft and hard at once.

"Run On For a Long Time"

I say I want security
Until you propose that to me
In forms with which I don't agree
You call that blind hypocrisy

Don't blame you, but I still fight it
I can't argue but I try it
Tell myself there's still a way
The world has just never seen paved

29 years, I've been thinking
Rarely acting, mostly preaching
Just keep cancelling out the wrong
Hoping what's 'right' will come along

Sometimes I think it's possible
You know me better than I do
And maybe I SHOULD trust in you..

But we know that will never happen.

You want it to be a smooth arc,
That's the thing about redemption,
But it's a long, gritty hill,
None of us an exception.

We try showing our angels without
While fighting demons within,
Pondering if we're progressing,
Or yet to even begin.

"Pleasantries"

Why should I nicely refuse
What you impose on me?
Why should I be babysitting
While you underthink?

Wasted so much time and strength
On all these pleasantries
Just to watch you live your life
So unaffectedly.

Fuck off.
