I like Toulouse-Lautrec and Van Eyck a lot.

Goya (I think I like his drawings more than his paintings though)

i really enjoy N.C. Wyeth's paintings. he painted some famous illustrations for Treasure Island, and several other books. his son was Andrew Wyeth, who was also a great painter.
Treasure Island was my favorite book when i was a kid. i have my old copy with N.C. Wyeth's illustrations. it has fallen all apart, the pages are pretty much entirely loose individually, and the binding is just trashed. haha.

here's a photo of N.C. Wyeth, and some of his paintings/illustrations:

Most of my favourite painters were active at least 150 years ago. Much modern art feels quite empty to me.

My favourite painters for several years have been: Turner, Caravaggio, Vermeer, Rembrandt...there are others but those are the main ones.

As far as really modern painters go, I do like Francis Bacon but I think he could get pretty tiresome after a while.

I like way too many to mention. But at the moment, I especially like this guy:

Favorite surrealists (or artists who had a similar approach and aesthetic, but didn't label themselves as such.)
