What are some unusual genres of music that you've discovered or heard of?

Today I heard about something called 70s Yacht Rock, I dont know if this is someones idiosyncratic notion who has been recommending me music or a genuine genre, I just thought it was interesting and probably will be looking into it more.

What examples of unusual genres have you discovered and are they any good or totally avoid?

Horror music, its weird but sometimes very catchy, emotional, or moody. I am not talking about just metal either.

Listening to this with headphones is a must, because some of the stuff you cannot hear without it.

My recent CD purchases (yes, I am that old) include vintage Funaná dance music from Cape Verde and also highly danceable 70s disco stomp from Ethiopia.

Will insert youtube link asap

There is also an album with psychedelic 70s music from Cambodia that looks interesting which I might get.

Oh, and I have an album by a guy from Florida who does a cool crossover of Cuban son and Jewish klezmer music.

I also once gave a friend an album of scientifically reconstructed music from ancient Mesopotamia... and Elvis Presley songs sung in Latin!
I'll see if I can remember and /or link in some more at a later point.

Oh, and my significant other does 8bit versions of Prussian military marches. There is a niche for that on youtube, apparently.
