Politics are fascinating, and I'm going from website to website enthralled in the 2016 election--spending 7 or 8 hours at a time digesting information on past and present politics, to the point it is hard to motivate myself to do other things. My guy, Bernie Sanders, has a 7% chance of winning, but I remain hopeful. In my free time, I am aiding this candidate to attempt to improve his chances of winning, which after my research tonight, seems to hinge on massively improving his popularity among African Americans, which currently stands at 4 percent. This seems similar to sociology, but it hits a different note, as I am focused on studying candidates and how they align with my own values, as well as seeing what has worked in the past for candidates and what candidates can do today to win. My most important criteria is that a candidate must be left of center on both economic and social issues, as these seem to work well in countries like those in Scandinavia when it comes to protecting the environment and the interests of those marginalized by society. There are always more questions and things to be considered, so I must continually gather information to prevent being hasty. Eventually, though I will act.

I am not sure what to do with this newfound interest in politics, but at least there is something I am interested in. The sociology classes I have taken so far are less interesting and seem whitewashed.

All I know is that to continue on this path, I must become fully financially independent, as my mother does not support my interests, beliefs, or convictions. I have a fear of making decisions too soon that borders on phobia, and I feel the need to weigh the pros and cons of everything I decide carefully to feel confident moving forward. That is, unless, the decision means literally nothing to me.

What does this sound like?

Never mind. It was just a phase I went through. Now I'm back to sitting around in a semi-catatonic stupor waiting for something interesting to happen.

:D :D :D

No, dude, dont let it go.

Read Andrew Vincent's Modern Political Ideologies, its an excellent place to begin, dont lose that interest.

Sociology is related. At the very, very least in terms of demography, culture, norms and primary and secondary socialisation. Those things influence and are influenced by politics.

You have to be careful because things in reality often work much differently than one imagines at the beginning of the exploration. What people see from politics is often only a facade in front of other games in the background (like corruption, business of the underworld, etc...) that remain secret or revealed by history long time later. I always treat politics as a show business to keep the masses satisfied/busy/happy while the real higher level game is played in the background. With hard work you can probably get near to the truth but you may not want that.

As painful as it may be, light must be shed on the mildew of corruption for it die.

That is a dangerous game. You can get killed easily. This is why I said that "you may not want that". The nearer you get to the fire the more dirty things you know - as a result you can easily become target of gangsters who are in connection with important people.

It's a risk I'll have to take, then. I care more about my legacy and the welfare of my fellow citizens than other, more petty things. Not that I would be reckless, either.
