I'm doing a college placement exam for French. How well do I have to do to place out of anything? With French I am more used to testing that does not necessarily want you to do well, so... yeah.

It depends on the college.
We had a Spanish placement test, I didn't even take it, but I snuck into higher level courses anyway.
If you can have your advisor or French profs. pull some strings for you if you do poorly you could still probably get in.
