Are those people worthless uneducated bums or immigrants, perchance?

I had to google a bit and found an article from 2008 which says that 2005 22% of people with jobs today work in the so called low-wage sector, which is people who earn wages under the poverty line. Around 3/4 of those people have an vocational education (hope I took the right word) or even an university degree.

Unemployed people here get offered often those 1€ per hour jobs. If they don't accept the job they will get their social money shortened, so people will accept those jobs and those jobs become more and more.

Oh, I see; so it's not unlike the American workfare program, where unemployed people go work at Wal-Mart or whatever and the government supplements their income. Better than them sitting at home anyway.

That doesn't detract from the fact that German median wages are something like $50 grand a year (at purchasing power parity), which is something you guys should be damn proud of (I assume you're German).

I am German, yes. Well, as I said, it is obviously possible to earn here better money too, just it is not anymore like in the past where the wealth of the country was far more noticeable even for the people on the lower side. Basically the money moves from the poorest to the richest over the years, and the middle class is kinda disappearing. That has to do with the reforms we had over the last years in the social area and the taxes for example.

But yea what is surprising is the ENTP. How you explain that?

If you knew any ENTPs, you wouldn't be asking this question.

(.... they're remarkably far more interested in messing around in lots of new things than necessarily achieving a particular financial goal. One of the most "undisciplined/unfocused" types IMO.)

Currently I don't have an income. But over the course of the next few years I expect that to change quickly and drastically.

Damn, I don't even make as much as the "average" INFP on this list, and I thought I was doing well for myself.

I am contemplating changing jobs, which would amount to a ~30% pay cut, but the opportunity to do more of the work that really interests me. Pay is not the only measure of a good job.

From the ones I know, a job that is fun, adaptable, and gives them freedom outside work (so good hours) seems to be the pick. ENFPs might only be higher because of the delusional idea that if you make enough money you'll never have to work again :).

I tend to earn about 25k per year. Earning potential has always been higher. I just end up working part-time for periods and tend to travel for a bit of most years.

Yes it's a thing that is quite good at the moment, in question is for how long it will work that way. German industry was export champion till on the beginning of this year the chinese took over, but it's very intresting and I've seen it first hand: I've worked as an engineer for a company, who build the ticket automatons which print your subway tickets for example. They've used high-end technology for those, like laser printers or thermic printers and exported the final product all over the world. In Germany tho, in special in the immediate area of the company there were zero of those products used in public transit. The reason for that is most communes / cities are totally broke and do not make any income at all. The city where I am from makes a yearly loss investing in the public transit system ( which is owned by the commune ) or investing in the quality of streets that is so high, if they wouldnt own the municipal utility they wouldnt be able to pay for all that.

What I want to say with that is: you have in Germany a system that wants to be capitalistic without letting loose of all the qualities they've gained while living in a socialist system. Concentrating on the former one means, the gap between rich and poor will increase and social institutions will become more broke over time until collapse. Concentrating on the latter, namely socialism means, money will be distributed more fairly, what means again that the wagers will be small, which doesnt really work and that's the reason why people are constantly shifting more towards the former system.

The thing now is, we have in Germany a 5 party system at the moment and the two main parties ( conservatives and socialists ) were both shifting towards a more capitalistic system over the last years. The voters of the socialist party of course were totally unhappy with that and some voters of the conservatives didnt want a capitalistic system aswell, because we never had that in Germany. We always had the so called civil middle, which didnt define themselves with corporate thinking and rather liked societal life in the cities.

Because many voters are unhappy now, they've shifted to a new found party of left-wingers, who stand for radical change Robin Hood-style. And that cant be the future, the next election I somehow fear, cause I dont know what will happen. In current polls the left-wingers have like 35 % of the votes, which would them probably make the main government party. And I hope it wont come to that. My family for example has some assets in houses, but my Dads just a plumber and he had worked hard to get all that. And the costs for it aint even paied yet. So a left-winger party could make taxes for people with assets really worse, what could probably lead to my Dad loosing his life work. That means, while the purely capitalistic way is destroieing the middle-class and favourising the rich, a more left party would do the same thing with favourising the more poor. And it cant be that this is the only way ..

If you knew any ENTPs, you wouldn't be asking this question.

I found your evaluation of why ENTPs dont achieve a particular financial goal a bit bromidic and unreal. Every grown-up ENTP would now that it is hard work that is needed to achieve a particular financial goal.

What I find more important is that ENTPs aint very materialistic. I rather like to build a car myself than to buy an expensive one. Building it myself and improvising it would give me far more.

That thought aside, I do aswell think that concentration on a lot of different topics, does not necessarily blind you for your main topic and does make you bad in it. Often for an ENTP it's more a quest. We aint born with a perfect masterplan that says: I want to be a firefigther, we rather learn by experience and have to get to know all the options and how the system of the real worlds ticks before we can find our places. ENTPs at young age, often are in huge need of a mentor, of a guy who can expain things and show them how the system ticks.

So it's more like leveling up a toon in Warcraft for an ENTP when it comes to finding his job. And it's the personal experience for development you would seek, rather than the money.

That's generally the idea that people have when they retire, so I'm unable to see how it's delusional. Quite honestly, it seems that a major reason that P's earn less than other types is that they have an External Locus of Control. They have difficulty seeing the connection between working hard and the resulting pay-off in the long term.

Pretty much. Which was why my statement wasn't referring to working 40 years then retiring ;).

There are still people who retire at age 40, 30, and in the case of child actors and individuals such as this, by the age of 25, even. Retiring early is by no means impossible based upon the right amount of hard work, ingenuity, luck, and planning.
