Frederick II Hohenstaufen was one of the most brilliant and multifaceted individuals ever to wear a crown and his MBTI is exceedingly difficult to pin down. He deeply impressed his contemporaries, who dubbed him the “Stupor Mundi”(Wonder of the World). Nietzsche called him an archetypal übermensch, describing him as “that great free spirit, that genius among German emperors” who was the true “German Mephistopheles”: “dangerous, bold, wicked, and cunning, and consequently more open-hearted.“ Frederick has been widely acknowledged as am almost universally capable polymath: a skillful warrior, a visionary and clever statesman, poet, musician, and impressive scientist. He was also autocratic, egotistical, domineering, deceitful, lustful, often cruel, and unfailingly ruthless, fashioning in his native Sicilian kingdom a state more centralized and despotic than any seen in Europe since Hadrian until the days of Louis XIV—with himself at its head as a kind of God-Emperor. During his reign, Europe came closest to quasi unity under the Holy Roman Emperor as a newly invigorated Roman Caesar. As much as he might have been model for enlightened despotism, Frederick II Hohenstaufen remained in many ways a man of his time whose ultimate aim was hegemonic and dynastic supremacy.

He certainly had XNTJ traits along with a high dose Ne and the winning charisma of an ENTP. PersonalityDatabase.com currently has him typed as an ENTJ 3w4, but the voting seems to have been a close battle between ENTP or ENTJ and 3w4 or 5w6 or 8w7. Again, he had many of the traits of each of these, and I could see him as an ENTP 8w7, and maybe an ENTP 3w4 or 8w7.

As it stands though, I think ENTJ 3w4 fits him well, but I’d like to open it up for discussion.
