In Japan, there is the story of Jesus taking residence. Also in the book, Thiaoouba Prophecy by Michel Desmarquet, it's mentioned that Jesus walked to Japan with his little brother, and that the Jesus who died on the cross and started Christianity actually is from Thiaoouba, on a mission to help spread Universal values. It's likely Jesus, when asking about what lies to the far West of Egypt, was answered by how there is a huge ocean, so he decided to walk East to discover the way to circumnavigate the globe. Once Jesus reached China, he likely heard about the land of Japan to the East, but when he arrived in Japan, was answered by how there is a huge ocean to the East, so he took residence on the island nation, as the technology at the time did not allow ocean travel for such long distances. However, Jesus' quest to circumnavigate the world, even if it's by foot, inspired later generations, like the voyages of Columbus, which led to the discovery of Americas.
