Space Pirate Captain Harlock

This is an anime from the 70s. A new animated movie version has also been shot recently.

Captain Harlock the protagonist is a military captain that went rogue against the Earth government and confiscated a battleship to fight off alien invaders claiming Earth. The battleship and crew are decorated with skulls and pirate symbols, and the Captain is referred to as a pirate yet he is more like a privateer or rogue I guess.

He also has a habit of staring down others without blinking and is good at swordfight and with pistols as well.

Harlock's overall aura, demeanor and clothing style reminds me of Anakin Skywalker and Count Dracula, who also prefer dark colors. In some drawings, Harlock looks more stern and in some others more approachable.
