If it weren't for the consistent hitching in certain levels, some of which reduce the frame rate to a slide show (it needs a patch), then Crysis Warhead would be one of the best shooters ever made.
I swear, this game looks ten times better than the first Crysis. There's more color, more detail, and more awesome physics. The game itself is also much more fast-paced and consistent. In the first Crysis, the game started off in a strategic sandbox mode, then involved into something way too linear and unexciting in the second and third half.
Crysis Warhead, while being a little more linear, is more consistent in this way -- there are still multiple ways to approach objectives, but they are not as diverse. Instead, you have this sort of thing happening throughout the game, rather than the entire game changing its idea.
The first Crysis suffered from somewhat boring storytelling, Crysis Warhead is highly whimsical by comparison, and the action is intense -- almost like a Michael Bay movie.
Now if Crytek would just make the patch to solve the hitching problems and possible memory leaks (it's not a video card issue, my GPU is more than capable of handling this game), then Crysis Warhead may possibly be the best game to be released this year, so far.
Tomorrow, perhaps, I will try playing Crysis Wars.
