I work in HS (human services). It's weird. People tell you all your life that would be excellent in HS, calm demeanor, not judgmental, insightful.... Maybe you're interested in that. People invest in you to excel in those ways.
HS work often makes me want to gouge my eye out with a spoon, not even sterilized.
I've had to deal with a lot of terrible people in HS. They tend to be VERY judgemental.
I can understand how they got there though. There are many people who really do just want free hand outs. They tend to be the only ones who get help. The ones you actually want to help are screwed over by bureaucracy, black tape, and rules put in place to stop fraud, which only hurt the ones who really need it. Dealing with a lot of whiny-ass clients must be very exasperating, Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if you just stopped caring at all. I imagine there is a lot of burn out.
