Ooh ooh ooh! This is totally my thing :3. Electronic music makes up about 80% of my library (or there abouts anyway). I spend a lot of time looking for music to listen to (though not as much in recent years). Music is super important to me, as it can be a wonderful outlet and springboard for emotional stuff that otherwise can't be outleted.
I think music is something that is best eased into and digested in smaller doses so for now I will only post three examples of somewhat recent stuff that I have come across that I am absolutely in love with.
FKA Twigs - How's That
Genre: Trip-Hop/Electronic
This woman is an incredible talent. It's been a really really long time since anyone has tapped the original core bristol sound from the 90's. Most that try fail anyway. FKA Twigs manages to do it, but also puts a modern spin on it that makes it something new and original. Everything she has released thus far I have fallen in love with, but this is definitely the standout track IMO. The video is mesmerizing too.
The Knife - Raging Lung
Genre: Electronic
The Knife are pretty much the pioneers of modern electronic music. Interestingly though, very few try to truly mirror their sound. You'd think pioneers would generate a new sound base, but what they really end up driving more is the stylistic approach they take to music. I am not complaining, because I love their style. They truly create unique sounds, and said one of the basises for this album was the use of instruments in atypical ways. This song is one of the standouts on the album. The full song is 9 minutes, so it is just a cut.
Creep - Vertigo
Genre: Trip-Hop/Electronic
Creep have been in the works for a while now, but it wasn't until very recent they released their first work. Their track Vertigo is by far their best. They got Lou Rhodes (of Lamb fame) to provide the vocals. There isn't a soul on earth who has a voice quite like hers, and it does astounding justice to this track. Each sound is nuanced, detailed, and conveys a very synthetic organic feel that is often sought after in this subgenre. The video is also
very visually pleasing to watch.
