You wouldn't see that one on here; it is something I keep to myself for many reasons - I come here to socialise, not to hermit. That I do just fine at home, as I have no colleagues or real life social circle. Ask yourself how often it is that I disappear from here, or take forever to respond, and what I could be doing then instead. You guessed it - research and introspection in an attempt to avoid the world and stay in my safe cocoon.
I do this too for whatever reason. 7 or sx or ne who the hell knows.

Do you withdraw from people tho? Not just get consumed by other things but do you intentionally shut people or things out that are too messy to deal with?

Are you melancholy?

I'm sincerely asking. I'm curious how you experience being 4w5 as an enfp.

Lady X same here.

Sometimes I withdraw because I'm overloaded with reacting/responding and feel very exhausted and upset from it. Burned out.

(I keep forgetting that I don't have to do this for everything that comes my way and then feel upset because others are putting too much on me.)

I withdraw a lot. I can have a serious amount of energy and be incredibly intense when Im feeling social and even moreso one-on-one, but I cannot sustain that and you'll see, especially after I've had many people respond to me here, or I've been in threads which are interesting but toxic environment-wise to me, I burn out. I suddenly won't be able to answer PMs, VMs, quotes or mentions, or even simple reps and need to recharge for a few days. Typically, I at that point turn to researching things obsessively, alternating with introspection to digest the information I gathered here and id the problem that overloaded me. Fiction (tv,books, stories in general) tends to help me chew through things as well.

Yes, I'm melancholic. I tend to...try and keep that to myself, but occasionally people on vent for instance pick up on me being a bit more moody, gloomy and melancholic. And it often gets me prodded by them in an 'you're supposed to be ENFP and be giddy all the time' kind of way. They know me well enough by now, so it's usually done in a joking manner but yeah. It usually means I'm lower on energy and don't feel like jumping around or going wheeee on Ne. It also often means I'm introspecting on things I'm still struggling with and just don't want to not be alone - loneliness and gloominess are a bitch that way - without having a need to necessarily talk. And usually, I'm researching online at the same time. Most of my time on vent though is spent talking one-on-one with people, personality mapping and catching up with friends.

Most of my time in general goes to working out how to tinker with my moods, while contrasting and comparing to what I observe in others, in order to figure out the universal principles so I can mine them properly. It started out, when I first got here, to research how people worked so I could stop stressing about doing the wrong thing when interacting with others - the internet provides that safety buffer to learn in peace. Talking to others here certainly is like research to me for that purpose. It also provides me with what I need to work through some of the issues I'm still dealing with. Meanwhile, it also allows me to improve my communication skills, in this case in English and play with word impact both in a forum format and an interactive format like ventrillo, to then contrast and compare it to the addition and therefore influence of voice, intonation, pacing etc in actual talking.

Nights and Days The one day you saw me on vent, I was on an Ne high. I'm a 497 and you basically saw me in 'blowing off steam'-mode, which is my 7. It's when Im fed up with my 4 work and the group doesn't require me to be a 9 that I get to that point. I absolutely love that mode, but it aint my go-to.

Hey there, I'm an ENFP 4w5 as well. It took me a long time to find it out but now I'm really sure about that.
I can very much to relate to that stuff you wrote, I also don't like to socialize IRL, although I need people. I get easily depressed when I'm completely alone and so I'm caught up in a contradictionary role.I still have to learn to handle that.
When I'm around close friends I usually play off the 7w6 and hide away my deepness, because I feel nobody would understand me. I often don't even understand myself and that's why I'm into typology - looking for my identity and wanting to find out what makes me so different from other people.
This article helped me a lot with my enneatype: http://theenneagram.blogspot.co.at/2007/12/new-4w3-vs-7w6-misidentifying.html

I'm thinking I'm ExFP (pay no attention to the avatar, I'm just a poser)

I've also been told I'm 7w8, however I test highest in Enneagram 8 and Enneagram 4 so I'm convinced I'm 3w4. Or a weird ESFP 4w3, which doesn't make any sense, considering 4's are introverted and ESFPs incredibly extroverted.

If you are a core 8, I'm a 2.

Tests don't tell you anything in regard to the actual system, you have to become exceptionally self-aware and determine what your motivations are and who you are.

That being said, from your interaction and your vibe, I still put forth:
ENFP 7w8 - 3w2 - 8w7

I said 3w4, not 8w4.

Outta curiosity, why N? Are you trying to flatter me into shutting up because you understand my motivations, or is this just my inferior Ni making up conspiracy theories?

I liek you, Conflictor. I also think you might be ENTJ-Ni.

You do possess a bit of the paranoia akin to an inferior Ni, but I'm assuming that is merely a facade put on by Ne with a cause. You possess the scattered and racing mind of an Ne-dominant, making connections everywhere and seeing all of the different possibilities. You seem above the clouds instead of down to earth.

I'm definitely not trying to flatter you however, I'm simply telling you the truth. (Now that's what aux Te is good for)

I was merely commenting on the test scores for that sardonic comment as well. You definitely possess a 3 fix, but you radiate 7 more than I've ever seen out of a person. Then again, you need to learn the system and decide for yourself. Determine your core motivations and fears and apply that to each of the 9 types' fears and motivations.

Also, 8w4? You mean 8w7? Wings are adjacent types to the core type, so a core 8 can either be an 8w7 or an 8w9, but you can possess a 4 fix in your trifix for the heart triad.

I dunno Steph, you seem a little more ESFP than ENFP, especially the avatar.

It's true, many ENFPs are involved in causes like you are, ie fair trade, boycotts on food companies, starving children, anti-war, but that's just Fi. I'm terrible at this, but I really don't know if you're ENFP. Could be a mistyped ISFP, but I could be wrong. Let me know your counterargument tho

Thx for your input. :) But I'm really, really sure that I don't use Se. The functions tests I have made always got me Se as my least used function and Ne + Fi as my most used ones. I try not to rely too much on tests, but for me there has never been the question about N or S. It was clear to me from the first moment on. I only had to struggle with E and F a lot. I went from INFP to INTP, then from ENTP to ENFP. Now I'm pretty sure about it.
But I appreciate your comment though. :)

Btw, my avatar is the swedish singer Lykke Li who is a selftyped INFJ and a 4. ;)

Why do you have 4w5 - 7w6 - 5w4 - 9w1 in your sig? Lol.

Gee, really?

I <3 you.

Yes, I know. Out of the 3 headtypes I relate to 7 the most, but I really have some 5 traits as well. Maybe it's just because of my wing.

Stephano, I admit I am one of those individuals that doesn't see 4w5 as making a whole lot of sense for an actual ExFP...even an especially introverted one. But even if I did... I personally wouldn't type you as 4w5.

Many 7w6 ENFPs connect with e5 early on in life... <-and when you combine that with a strong 4 fix... you've got yourself a mistyped ENFP 4w5.
