But "atlases and all that random factual country information" has fascinated me too. It doesn't that much currently, but it has in the past and might again.

I'm not sure how the not wanting to sound shallow indicates Intuitive over Sensor either, but I'm not saying you're wrong, just puzzled by your explanation.

Remembering lots of info/facts is something I tend to associate with Si...

My ESTJ ex-housemate was so damn intelligent when it came to learning languages - she'd just need to repeat it a few times and into her head it would go!

Sorry, I totally didn't mean to sound biased! Let me try and explain a bit. My thought processes and impressions aren't always clear to even me.

I suppose I associated the first point (gawd I put that awkwardly, didn't I? ) with iNtuition because I related to it - and I somehow assumed that that sort of fascination with some random subject was more N than S. In retrospect, of course S's have random interests, too.

He has also travelled extensively, so it may well be a memory recall sort of thing, too.

    OKay, so point rendered moot.

Oh and the second point, actually, my main indicator was more the fact that he assumed I understood him without really having to say much. The shallowness could be anyone, I suppose. But yeah, I just don't get the 'They don't understand, but you do' from S's very much. The only one I can think of is my ISFP mum, who's pretty borderline S.

So again, I could be assuming, but that was just sort of my impression. Details Schmetails.

ESTJs are insane trivia-hoarders. Nothing beats them at their subject of choice.
