INFP 9. I'm surprised at how all over the place the typings have been in this thread so far, you're a total 9, it's clear even by just looking at your avatar and username. INFP is pretty obvious, particularly after the last few posts.

Thanks for the input, KoD! :) Though I'm less like a Buddhist Monk and more like a Woody Allen character with a touch of Jimmy Olsen and Eeyore. :newwink:

Also, Marmie Dearest... You said I sounded like someone with a strong Thinking function. Would you mind telling me why you thought that? I'm just curious. :)

Tell us about your Si and Ne (if you can). I think you show both Fe and Fi so it would help to do this.

Hmmm, let's see...

Si - On one hand, excessive routine can make me feel pretty bored; on the other hand, I really like my "personalized" routines, like leaving my clothes ready for when I wake up in the morning and checking certain websites on certain days. My ISFx mom can get pretty exasperated with my "homebound-ness" - I dislike travelling for long periods of time, and I frequently miss my "den" (i. e. room). I don't complain about it as much as my dad (ESFJ) and my brother (xSTJ?), but I can kind of "zone out" and get a bit robotic after a while when we're taking a stroll (which we do every day everywhere we travel, since we didn't buy plane tickets or drive for six hours to get copped up in our rooms ;)). I like doing this sequentially (like reading a book before watching the movie adaptation). I, however, kind of distrust my memory (thank you, memo board and calendar, for doing my brain's job!) and my ability to hold a lot of information in my noggin (I'm reading a few manga series simultaneously, and decided I won't add another to the bunch until after I reach a somewhat arbitrary milestone).

Ne - I get kind of spacey sometimes, and I sometimes ask questions that seem to come out of nowhere. I have several tabs open on my PC, jumping from movie reviews to blogs about cake. On a negative note, I often jump to conclusions when it comes to assuming others' opinions of me ("They think I'm dorky and alienated..."), which contributes to my isolation issues, and I sometimes, when distressed, imagine worst-case scenarios and have pretty loony fantasies. I think Ne features quite a bit on my sense of humor, which can be random and a bit morbid sometimes.

Does that help, Giggly? :)

Aw, peas. Back to the drawing board. :(

By the way, King, would you mind elaborating on your INFP 9 theory? You said you saw INFP in my posts and 9 in my username and avatar...

As an aside, does anyone have a hunch on my E-type stacking?

An INFJ friend of mine, whom you remind me of, is often asked whether he is gay. I have wondered whether you are - mostly, I guess, because you are so overly kind and benign toward everyone. It seems to be common among INF men.

INFJs are much more directing than Viridian. they may look like ISFJs on the outside, but they're plotting, calculating, visionary Ni/Ti on the inside.

Whether I am INFJ or whether I am gay? (In either case, thanks for the kind words, Nic!)

I probably should mention I'm somewhat less outspoken and affectionate IRL... My father once said I was, well, the closest word would be "curt", I guess, and he also mentioned I was "an iceberg" (his words, half-joking) because I didn't get riled up or depressed over soccer matches and other everyday affairs like he was. Make of that what you will...

he said that being he was trying to guilt trip you in blatant ESFJ fashion (ESFJs that aren't self aware do this unconsciously when they see someone who isn't an EFJ because they think that everyone should be one)

You can already answer the latter (if you want); the former still seems to be in question, but by making that comparison, I offered my best guess.

I am ambiguous on both accounts - I have zero experience with romance, so my preferences are unclear.

I imagine your preferences are more ambiguous than unclear. Over 30 % of the content on the internet is porn. Am I supposed to believe you have never happened across some of it, or is it a matter of trying it out before you will settle on a definition?

Er, the second one, I think. Kinsey Scale and all that jazz.

On another note, I admit I am a wee reluctant to imagine myself as a Nine, since, temperament-wise, I'm more melancholic than phlegmatic...

I'm thinking IxFJ (probably ISFJ), 2w1.

What's getting everyone confused, is that you're showing a lot of what could be interpreted as Fi, but what is, in my opinion, your enneagram and possible SJness. Just because you care a lot about your family, and principles, and "doing the right thing", doesn't make you Fi. But it does make you very 1 and very 2 -- which I believe because I related so much to a lot of your answers.

You also remind me a lot of other IxFJs on the forum. If you read through the "Ask an ESTJ" thread and see the posting style of a lot of INFJs there (including Fidelia), it ought to remind you of yourself, a bit.

And to everyone who thinks you're a 4: consider the part in the questionnaire when you talk about being "unworthy". Also very 2.

A 2? That'd be interesting - How many ISFJ 2s have their mother tell the all the time "Honey, you really need to make some friends"? Mind you, though, I was more gregarious a few years ago, so there's that...
Being a 2 doesn't really have to do with the quantity of your social interaction -- it has more to do with the quality of it.

I get your point, EJCC... I do think, however, that my stress style is not very Twoish... Whenever I feel stressed, I retreat further into my shell, like I can't take any more stimuli, I get stuck in loops of rationalization and become snippy, aloof and indirect. Observe Shih-na here, and how icy she is:

If I'm pushed too far, I become curt and kill conversations with my sharper edges (yes, I do have those :newwink:).

Good idea, SI! I'll read those and get back to you.
