It's Narumi Ayumu from Spiral (see Colors' post).

Your assumption is correct, though I'm pretty picky in terms of anime. My current favourites are: Kino no Tabi, Mushishi, Legend of the Galactic Heroes, Wolf's Rain, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex and RahXephon. IIRC some of them aren't licensed outside Japan.
