Default New INTP trying to get acclimated

Hi all.

26 yo Female, high school English teacher, Gay, Engaged, New York City...

New INTP, found the site after a grad school assignment had us do a MBTI test for an assignment...needless to say, I got a bit sidetracked from the assignment.

Being an INTP, from what I gather, it makes sense, then, that I was up 'til 3am reading articles and lurking on the forums...it intrigued me, therefore, I didn't notice the passage of time!

Just getting my feet wet.

Welcome, Linds . I like your avatar.

A couple of uncharacteristically probing questions:

How do your students respond to your INTPness?
How does your INTPness respond to your students?

Or do you adopt a role a bit when you teach?

-What are you talking about?
-Endymion, my dear. A beautiful youth possessed by the moon.
-Well, forget about him and get to bed.
-Yes, my dear.

Hi Spirilis and Colmena,

To answer your questions, Col (though I just started yesterday thinking about how my INTPness affects my students, and vice versa--that was the assignment, actually...a pretty cool one).

1. My students respond to my INTPness by getting frustrated when I use logic to diffuse their ridiculous arguements / excuses! It's awesome.
2. I just recently realized that my student's noise grates on my INTP nerves. I learn and think better in quiet solitude, and have demanded the same of my students without thinking...my classroom (at least during reading time) really was quiet. I'm going to try to be more understanding of my "E"s this year, though, and let them socialize a bit more.

Nice to meet you, Linds.

INTPs are some of my favorite people.

Like you, I teach.
How far along are you in Grad school? Are you thinking of expanding it into a PhD?

I think the flooding will be good exercise, calm within the storm etc. etc.

It will develop your tranquility in the irrationality of reality.

Hey Night,

Well, I'll graduate with my MS in English Ed next May, and want to go back and get my MFA in creative writing directly after that. I've debated the PhD, and still would love to get it, but with kids on the horizon and two future jobs (teaching HS english and college too), not sure how long it'll take me.

You?
