It figures -- I cut out of this thread right when everything started to get good.

So what sort of words and music do you create, Elwin?
Do you have a preferred instrument? Style?

Words? I use words to create logical arguments, but my real love is for poetry. I can't just create poetry and random, though, and what I do create isn't meant for everyone to read.

As for music, I create everything from simple acoustic guitar work to metal to my personal favorite, synthesized symphonic (orchestrated music, but with synthesizes since I can't afford a real orchestra).

I'm primarily a guitarist. Electric lead is my favorite to play.

I don't know what other questions to answer.

I appreciate that, targo. I don't know that I could be anything other than nice to Varelse. Wait, yes I do. I could be good to her. I think that would actually be better.

Understood... and I agree. I think some things are special enough to keep to oneself. Despite the commercial urge, we all don't always have to sell or publicize every private vision we have; we can treasure things by keeping them secret.

Do you use normal synth sequencers, or sequencer software (like Sonar) or software like GigaStudio?

I'm primarily a guitarist. Electric lead is my favorite to play.
Oh, good for you. That's one instrument I can't play. I think any instrument can be effective and aesthetically pleasing, if incorporated into a song appropriately. [Some people are purists and hate modern instruments... or confine them to certain musical styles.]

Glad to know I have your approval, targo.

I don't have much money to put into my musical gear, so I'm doing all of my synthesized work with GarageBand on my laptop. I have no other synthesizer gear or software.

See, to limit an instrument to one style is to put it in a box. I think you know how I feel about boxes now.

    Hee.

Last week, I made this comment to someone, when we were talking about boxes: "There is no box."
