    Default Greetings everyone

    Hello there...

I've joined here to evaluate the typology systems and gain more knowledge about them, their use, and the people who take interest in them. Honestly, I take other subjects of psychology more seriously, but it seems close-minded to simply disregard the systems outright. It appears to me that even though our brains don't run on cognitive functions, and there aren't really nine fundamental neuroses, etc, it's a neat little thing to study anyway.

According to the system, I'd be intuitive dominant... probably with Ti-Fe, so that leaves the two types ENTP and INFJ. I relate more to Ne since I am expansive with ideas/concepts and take on a wide area of interests, rather than being focused on a few things. Perhaps that is too shallow a reasoning but meh, whatever. Enneagram-wise, 5w4 is in there, so is 3, and probably 1. That's a rough estimate. Sometimes I think 7 is there but IDK.

Anyway, that's enough about me. How about you? Anything interesting to tell?

    You hem me in -- behind and before;
you have laid your hand upon me.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,
too lofty for me to attain.

Thank you, I like your name too. I'm guessing it means the stars? Suppose it has multiple interpretations. But personally it reminds me of stars in the night sky, and then Orion as my favourite constellation. Then Betelgeuse for standing out due its colour and slightly amusing name...

If you are interested, my name is from a piece of dialogue from one of my WIP novels. A section:

"Whoever it is, nevertheless, it has been their turn today. And they moved merely a pawn. Come tomorrow and we’ll drag the bishops."
"Or caw the rooks." Added #1.
"No," #2 said, "There’s no direct punches anymore. We have to attack from an altogether... unexpected angle."

So it's a play on caw/call and rook the bird, and rook the chess piece. Simply playing with language is one of my favourite things about writing. Do you indulge yourself in any creative activities?

Yeah, i caught the references in your username. Very cool.

Welcome to the forum, and yes, sure, your approach to type sounds reasonable -- I'm in that general area myself. Various systems do provide some useful patterns for self-understanding, personal growth, and productive change; they are just models or perspectives.

“Pleasure to me is wonder—the unexplored, the unexpected, the thing that is hidden and the changeless thing that lurks behind superficial mutability. To trace the remote in the immediate; the eternal in the ephemeral; the past in the present; the infinite in the finite; these are to me the springs of delight and beauty.” ~ H.P. Lovecraft

Yeah, I think it's best to consider it a helpful model, rather than a theory that actually describes how the brain works. I read about how people disregard it because it is pseudo-scientific (which is true enough), but then criticize it because the descriptions are suspiciously horoscope-like and succumb to the forer effect. They're ignorant to how the systems should actually be used.

There are reasonable criticisms of course, which is one of the reasons why it's interesting to learn about, to evaluate it.

    hmmm....that's a toughy.

i like all music genres, and just like what i like out of them. i guess i tend toward raw sounds, good songwriting, strange vocalists, a goood beat, and simplicity.
