Unhappy Hi All ENFP with a problem...

I've recently started seeing this guy and I'm just crazy about him. So, I asked him to take the Meyer's Briggs and he got ISTJ. I think we get along pretty well, but the Socionics site said we were incompatible. Help!!!

First of all, socionics ISTj is Myers Brigg's ISTP. Secondly, tests, especially if you only take one, can be very inaccurate.

Thirdly, you shouldn't base your relationship on what typology says. Typology can give you insights as to why people behave the way they do, and how to communicate effectively, and explain why some people drive you crazy sometimes. You shouldn't base if you should attempt a relationship with somebody or not strictly on typology, though. That's just cutting you off from some truly excellent people.

I don't think you have a problem, Ms. ENFP.

It doesn't matter what it says.

    Do YOU think you're incompatible?
Does the conflicts it brings up match up to what you two have?

If so... Well, you know what to do.

Wait Socionics is deliberately opposite on the last letter? How confusing is that?!!!

We both took Meyer's Briggs...so what does that make us socionically? LOL

Thanks for the help guys...I was feeling a little sad. You know how flippant we ENFPs are. I've taken Meyers Briggs lots of times on different tests and I always get ENFP so I know I am!!!

Well with introverts in socionics code the j or p at the end denote the dominant function of a person while in Myers Briggs J or P denote the first extroverted function of a person.

As in, an ISTJ has introverted sensing, then extroverted thinking, then introverted feeling, then extroverted intuition (yes, we all use all four 'letters', apparently in a patter according to Jung). T and F are 'judging' functions, so because the ISTJ's first extroverted function is extroverted thinking, an ISTJ is a 'judger.'

An ISTj, however, has introverted thinking, extroverted sensing, introverted intuition, then extroverted feeling. By socionics logic, the first function should be what's denoted by p or j, and because the ISTj is introverted, the first function is introverted. This is the same pattern of functions as an ISTP in Myers-Briggs, though.

Extroverts in socionic are the same as they are in Myers-Briggs. In socionics, you're an ENFp and an ISTp.

They're systems that developed separately from the same root, you can't really blame them for being different.

    Puzzled, puzzled, puzzled.

Where and what, exactly, is the problem?

ENFP's and ISTJ's can be plenty compatible. Very much so. There will be misunderstandings and conflicts, but that's the case for any relationship. Like Jeffster said, don't let a site tell you what to do and what is or isn't "right."
