    Default An INFJ Philosophy

What greater good is there than
That which brightens an otherwise dreary day,
That occurs at our moment of greatest need,
That which from despair comes rebirth, and a fresh perspective?
What greater good is there than
That which opens our hearts and abates our most virulent desire,
That we may be fulfilled by a love so pure, and so deep
That for one glorious moment we realize we’re not alone,
    We’ve never been alone,
    We’ll never be alone.
Our saving grace is found in despair,
and that is the greatest good.

What greater wisdom is there than
    Knowing our human condition,
Knowing that we will always strive towards order,
But as is the paradox of our universe,
    We create entropy,
    Disorder and chaos.
    Only in letting go will the universe be set right;
Only through true expression of ourselves,
    Freedom, incontinent desire,
And trusting those desires to be for good,
    For reason, for love.
    For this is the only thing not born from imitation and inculcation;
It is the only thing natural,
    The only thing rational,
The only thing not afraid to be irrational.

-- I wrote this about 6 months ago. I don't remember what inspired it, but I found it today and thought I would use it to introduce myself. It's true to my beliefs for the most part, but there are a few words in particular that make me a little insecure, namely "incontinent desire". I meant it in the purest sense, but it could certainly be misinterpreted if taken out of context, and it sort of contradicts what I said about abated desires, though I meant desires of a different form.

Is the use of saving grace deliberately religious or meant as a metaphor?

It is quite clearcut INFJ indeed. An interesting read and a clear view of your motivations.

Religious in attitude, but it's not meant to convey a belief in God.
    Thank you

    You're welcome.

I once wrote a similar piece of text (lost now, but shouldnt be considered a loss :P ) about how I saw the world, streamlining my thoughts on paper, but I was young and INTP; it was considerably darker. Still, even though the differences appeared much larger, in essence they were very subtle differences. It is funny how a slightly different approach or view can create completely different shapes between the various N types.

Very true. It took months of reflection to decide if I was an INFJ, INTP or INTJ. I went through phases where I was insistent that I was one or the other, and it was rather painful to associate my identity with something, only to dissociate from it later. I grew up in a Ti household, so I found it hard to believe I was a feeling type. As a result of denying my nature, I was depressed for a long time, lending a darkness to my affect. I would be a much different person if I had continued to develop that way, or if I had been exposed to a different environment initially.

I can't decide if this guy is INTP, INTJ, or INFJ. Is Yoda a fellow INFJ for you?

    Yoda is the quintessential INFJ.
To start, he is dominant introverted intuitive (perceiving):
    senses the future (introverted)
    interconnectedness of the force (introverted)

    Auxillary extroverted feeling (judging):
Intimately aware of other peoples pain and suffering - more so than his own (extroverted)

He is tertiary introverted thinking (judging):
You know he’s not introverted thinking dom because of his syntax. He perceives things in a way that makes sense to him, but when he tries to express his thoughts, they come out all jumbled.

    inferior extroverted sensing (perceiving):
extroverted sensing is inferior, and leads to restlessness, frustration, overindulgence, and anger when it is unbalanced. This is the darkside that he warns Luke to stay away from.
