Default Hello. This is a new person joining.

I continually checked back to threads at this forum when reading about various personality systems; as this has been over the past several years and I still find myself returning, I thought I would join up and attempt to be more participatory.

I apologize if my writing style seems off-putting. I'm somewhat shy and am also generally unable to recognize when I express myself in a manner too complex or difficult to follow; these seem to contribute to expressing myself a bit formally (and, admittedly, awkwardly) until I can acclimate to a situation. Or when I am especially serious about a topic, but that does not quite apply right now.

...I'm not sure what else to write. I'll just post this before I'm tempted to intentionally increase the quantity of alliteration.

I put an awful lot of effort into not offending people, considering how bored I am.

Very matter of fact thread title. I like it! Welcome.
Masquerading as a normal person day after day is exhausting.

It was that or "Hello". I tend to be at a bit of a loss when titling things of any persuasion.

INTJ 4w5? Interesting, would you mind explaining your final ruling on that typing?

How do you feel about self-referential statements?

I determined INTJ over a year of reading about MBTI and cognitive processes/seeing how types manifested in others.

With the first two letters, IN, taken as a certainty, eliminating doubt became a matter of the processes. INTP was comprehensible but largely incorrect in terms of the presence of processes used; INFP somewhat relatable, but the INFPs I know are squishy balls of fluff and I could name ten people off the top of my head who would find the idea of me being like that humorous; INFJ also somewhat relatable due to shared primary Ni, but the closest I come to using Fe is as a mimicry of my mother and a distant friend, used mainly around strangers and acquaintances for the sake of avoiding the annoyance that would be caused by offending someone unused to me who I am likely to see often.

After reading multiple descriptions of all Enneagram types, the three most likely were 1w9, 4w5, or 5w4. 1w9 was discarded due to having more holes than a cheese grater. 5w4 was discarded due to the 5's emphasis on suppression of emotion; while I rarely make decisions without a rational basis, I am rather bad at suppression of emotion and prefer to conceal it, redirect it, or remove the cause of it instead. 4w5 was chosen due to a significantly closer correlation with my own responses over several years.

Sceadugenga - shadow-walker - is used to describe the fictional creature Grendel in the Old English of Beowulf. Which, along with a translation, I have read far too often recently.

I would happily eat them as long as they were cooked first. Possibly even if they were baby Cthulhu as the sign claims.

"Shy" is a better description of the result than of the cause, which would take longer to explicate and is not really worth the effort.

    So perfectly fine, thank you.

Nifty. Last follow-up: What prompted you to learn Old English? Also, do you speak/comprehend any languages outside of English and Old English?
