    Default A Belated INTP Introduction

I've posted a few threads already, but missed this forum, which seems to be a rude thing to do, so here goes.

I'm a young INTP that recently dropped out of college and is trying to make it as a novelist. I've been interested in MBTI for a few years, and have spent a great deal of time explaining it to friends. When I'm not deep in Ti mode, I like working out, playing golf, and discussing literary, philosophical, and psychological ideas.

I look forward to meeting a lot of great new people on Typology Central!
There is a fundamental conviction which some people never acquire, some hold only in their youth, and a few hold to the end of their days--the conviction that ideas matter. The nature of this conviction? That ideas matter means that knowledge matters, that truth matters, that one’s mind matters. And the radiance of that certainty, in the process of growing up, is the best aspect of youth.

Welcome to TypeC. There aren't too many threads on golf and working out but the rest you'll find without effort.

I'm working on my first one right now, and it's hard to give it a genre other than just literature. It's a two part story about a small but tragically doomed boom town in the American West that is revived as a dystopian retirement community in the modern era. Philosophical and psychological themes of knowledge, cynicism, and redemption color the plot, among others.

Really? That sounds interesting, have you decided on a name for the book yet? If they revive it as a retirement center in the modern age, then will you have a main character? Will he/she be working in such conditions, or be a retiree themselves? Or is it going to be a story that shows how people interact in that situation, with focusing on several different view points at once? It sounds quite tough and I wish you luck!

p.s: That quote you have written, Charles Dickens wrote nearly the same thing (meaning wise of course) in the first chapter of his book David Copperfield. ^^
