Default Hello! INxJ migrating from INTJ forum

Hello everyone! I used to be a regular lurker on the INTJ forums.

After taking an official MBTI test last week, I discovered I was INxJ. I definitely straddle the border between INFJ and INTJ. I've read a lot on Typology Central, and I really like the broader viewpoints and larger variety of personalities on this forum! I'm happy to be here!

I am currently attending university across the San Francisco Bay, and I volunteer at a neuroscience lab. I plan on going to medical school and becoming a psychiatrist. From there, I hope to do research and teach, though I might just focus on clinical practice. We'll see!

I am a massive nerd and love fantasy, sci-fi, role-playing games (both table-top and virtual), real-time strategy games, and drawing. I also love philosophy, especially ontology and epistemology. Also a major psychology geek.

Hello, philonious89. Welcome to Typology Central.

It appears that we have a similar typing problem. I had trouble deciding between INTJ and INFJ at first, myself. The best way to decide on your type in this instance is by using function descriptions. INTJs are Te/Fi, while INFJs are Fe/Ti.

Take a look at the descriptions here. Do you relate more to Te and Fi, or to Fe and Ti?

That sounds like a really interesting career track! I hope it works out for you. I've always wanted to be a psychologist, but I was never good enough at math to meet my basic requirements.

I like all of the things you just described myself, because I'm also a nerd. I think that a lot of other people here do as well.

Cool. How did you get the gig volunteering at a neuroscience lab? Did you just saunter in and ask if they needed a hand?
