    I can imagine coming into a strange place where you know no one, introduce yourself with some degree of trepidation, wait for some kind of acknowledgement and get...nothing. I couldn't help but feel a little foolish and a bit hurt even when you know that it's nothing personal, but still, there it is. That's why I do it.

    About acknowledging the birthdays; a few people acknowledged mine and it kinda made my day. I appreciated this enough to think others might like it too so I decided to pay it forward.
