What if any sexual orientation/label describes you best?

I identify as a lesbian. I know this must be somewhat confusing.

I dated/married a man (my best friend) because I was supposed to. I attribute this to being raised in the deep South. I stayed in my marriage for my kids, another supposed to that I never wanted. I am somewhat bitter on both points.

No one told me I could be gay. I thought I was broken. One more thing wrong with me. Looking back, it's so obvious, though. Too bad I didn't realize it in high school when I was writing poetry about girls and playing Final Fantasy with the guys.

I believe in truth (something my ENFP gf has issues with...). So after ten years, I decided I couldn't lie anymore. I'm much happier.

What you describe happens a lot. People don't think it's socially appropriate to explore biological impulse, as it ostensibly defies majority themes in sexual conduct.

Some don't ever have the chance to exonerate their identity from the artificiality of these norms. Thankfully, as social progress continues, many of these dinosauric themes are being repealed.

Over time, it seems likely that class and sexual orientation will be unrelated themes.
