I have just registered for this forum and wish to introduce myself. I am a long-retired former scientist/academic living in the Sonoran desert-southwest. I spend a lot of my time hiking and mountaineering in the western U.S. When not off on an adventure, I like to read, listen to music and work around my little homestead.

I am an INTJ but with only a modest N preference. I am strongly I and T with a moderate preference for the J function.

I tend to be impatient with those I feel are narrow minded, fanatical and loudly opinionated. Moreover,I am fairly old and thus am not a fan of modern "pop" culture; it gives me a headache. I realize that both of these may be viewed as character flaws: if so, I plead guilty.

I look forward to some interesting discussions on this forum.

i like hiking in nature too.

Edit: something sounds redundant in my statement. When does one say one 'hikes' when its not in nature?

I would consider myself as pretty young (I'm almost 18), but I'm not a fan of modern ''pop'' culture too. And most of it gives me a headache too, so does this EMO and hard rock/metal thing. But I think it's not right to judge people by their style and musical taste, so I respect that people decide to be a member of one or another cultural type and i try to not judge them by it. So don't worry, you're not the only one and it really doesn't depend on the age of a person.

I would've guessed your an I(s)TJ based solely on the name of the topic.

Don't worry about that... you get full absolution from me, at least if I'm in the place to give it... I'm 28 years old myself and not really a fan of modern culture... I'm an eclectic, I tend to pick and choose. I just take the good old things and the good new things
