    Default So I'm here

    Hello, all.
I'm a rather adept typology student that doesn't always like message boards,
but I'm giving this a chance since it's the center of something I'm very focused on.

I'm an INTP(I'm sure you already have plenty).
I'm also a Type One with a Two wing.
And I'm Intimate, Preservational, and then Social.

None of the other personality systems were interesting enough to remember.
Though I seem to recall some place telling me that I was a koala...

Hello, Magic Proiferan. Welcome to MBTI Central.

You're very descriptive and direct for an INTP... but my sampling pool might be contaminated with mistyped ENTP's and INFP's, so that might not be as unusual as I think.

    I'm usually described/tested as a 4w5.

If I'm not mistaken, isn't the third description a series of Oldham styles? I never really got into those because they were a little vague.

I found a a somewhat interesting personality system and test here (Sloan / Global 5).

Oh, and have you heard of Socionics by any chance?

I don't actually recall the origins of the "instinctual stackings"(the third system) but they are something that is often connected with the Enneagram.
There's a quick test for it at similarminds.com I do believe.

I have taken the SLOAN and I am familiar with Socionics, though I never really got into either.

I might seem more direct because I'm a One? Apparently type One INTPs are rather uncommon. It should be noted that my P is the weakest of my letters. It closely borders on J, but I'm consistently an INTP.

Oh, yes, I see that now. It's just that you didn't use the notation I'm familiar with, so I didn't recognize it at first. It's usually written as SO(Social), SP(Self-Preservation), and SX(Sexual)

I'm a SO/SP, which is sometimes written out as SO/SP/SX, but most people don't include the third instinct, as it is just assumed to be the weakest.

I'm not as interested in those myself, but the main thing I'm seeking is the similarities and differences between Socionics and MBTI. Mostly, I want to see if I can adapt their subtype theory to fit within the MBTI framework, because it seems to fit with some of my observations.

That makes sense, actually. 1's have a lot of J-ish qualities. F is actually my weakest preference, and I think that's because of my 5 wing.

I usually object to it being called the sexual instinct, because I think that's really misleading, and I usually say "preservational" without the "self" part.
    I just cut them down for ease, so doing it my way, I would be an "IPS". Take note of the fact that every combination is pronounceable;
IPS, ISP, SIP, SPI, PIS and PSI. ^_^

I also have to say that in spite of his extremely wide, essentially standard acceptance, I'm not a big fan of Kiersey's system.

Yes, I'm precocious, and I don't idly accept most things as they stand.

Okay, you're an INTP, I can see that now...

That's an interesting description, and I understand why you think that name is misleading. Those combinations are shorter and easier to remember. I might very well consider that as alternative notation for remembering instinctual stacks. Only I might have to explain myself if I used it directly in communication.

The only thing I don't understand is why you cut out the "Self," except that you might have thought it was superfluous. It didn't really change the meaning/connotations much.
