Hi, Sahara. What type of Japanese/Chinese films do you watch? My favorite Korean film (that I recommend to everyone) is "Duelist" starring Ha Ji-won and Kang Dong-won.

Wow there are so many to choose from, mostly the ones geared around samurai sword play, or martial arts to be honest, and ones like:

The Bride with the white hair 1 and 2
    China my sorrow
    Farewell my concubine
    Happy together
    The great wall
Raise the red lantern (10 star film)
    Yellow Earth

    Japanese ones:

    Nobody knows
In the realm of the senses
    Princess Mononoke
    Tokyo story

(those are the ones I can pick off the top of my head)

I will give the duelist a go.

Have you ever seen the Japanese film Shinobi? You might like that one.

I'll see what else I can recommend.

I like the movies Der Untergang (Downfall), Das Boot, and Lola Rennt (Run Lola Run).

Another good foreign movie (from the perspective of an American) is Strange Brew, which is Canadian.

I still haven't watched Pan's Labyrinth, though, but I've been meaning to.

Watcher, do you like the Akira Kurosawa's Dreams?

I've also got the movies Nightwatch and Daywatch (Russian films) on order from Netflix.

Uberfuhrer: I've not seen it but I will add it to my Netflix list. I haven't been able to watch as many movies as I would like to these days, unfortunately. I have also yet to see a German or Russian film. I'm slowly making my way around the world.

Sahara: Well, if you enjoyed that movie you might enjoy "Duelist" as well. I would also recommend "King and The Clown".
