Not sure I can do that. For some reason, I don't like to lick knives. My parents must have dropped me on my head when I was a kid or something.

    "What's good?" Interesting question indeed.

We might say that good and evil are just ideas about the world with no independent existence from perception. Does that mean that as perception varies, our concepts of good and evil change? Perhaps. What's good for a large corporation may not be good for an environmentalist. Arguments about moral relativity, however, often seem more concerned with semantics than with what we can say about reality. What can we say about reality? If we look carefully, w can see that there are forces, motivations, reactions, and even ideas that are conducive to peace, and those that challenge it. I believe that when most people are talking about moral-good, rather than business-good, they are referring to these catalysts of peace and harmony which are recognized by their affect on the individual who catalyzes the catalysts, as well as the person or creature that receives its benefit. It is at this level of universal experience that "good" acquires a meaning that can be agreed upon regardless of the subject, where moral relativity and absolutism meet at last.

Edahn, that's a pretty excellent answer.

Now going along those lines, could something be preceived as good as in that people recognize that it is conductive to peace, but in fact it is detrimental? In that case, I would think that moral relativity and absolutism would not meet up. So would it be good or not?

    UDog, infinite loop much?

There can’t be any large-scale revolution until there’s a personal revolution, on an individual level. It’s got to happen inside first.
