    Default Meet Your Madmins

In an effort to be user friendly to our members, we are providing brief introductions of ourselves and in an effort to be sadistic to our fellow madmins as a humorous twist, we are each also going to write a brief introduction of a fellow madmin. (Thanks to our new mod, Proteanmix, for the cool idea and to the Sadistic One for the other idea. )

The other, of course, involves orcs.”

    Me
I am a thirty-something housewife. As such, my family makes up a big part of who I am and is never very far from my mind (or my body for that matter ). My husband of fifteen years is an INTP who drives a local truck route. We have four kids aged 14, 12, 10, and 8.

I am an INFJ. I often come out as a INFP in those fun little online tests, but I believe that is a function of it being hard to quantify J in the abstract, so they ask a bunch of questions about scheduling and what your desk looks like. Whatever.

I'm a politically liberal Evangelical. Yeah, I'm conflicted. Reading, especially mystery and fantasy novels, is my lifelong hobby. My current interests are listening to free audiobooks, Dagorhir (think kinder, gentler SCA), sewing medieval-style costumes, and of course, MBTI.

    Fellow Madmin
Ivy is just cool beyond words. She's smart, funny, down to earth. If you've been around for a little while, you know all this. If you are a newcomer, you will see. There just isn't anything not to like, unless you are a spammer or a troll, in which case, she will take you down.

    Introducing... me!

I'm Eileen. I'm the madmin who gets here late and misses the interesting action. Somehow all the porn gets deleted before I get here. Alas.

I am a high school teacher, a rather conflicted Episcopalian (one might say a progressive agnostic-almost-atheist Episco-Catholic), and an INFJ (who, like Cafe, tends to score INFP on the tests). I like impromptu adventures (usually of the "controlled spontaneity" variety), quirky dark fiction, and magic. I have a cat named (not by me, mind you) Smokey and a boyfriend who lives ~75 miles away from me.

    Introducing... Geoff!

Geoff is the epitome of "mild mannered." He likes the following things: cooking, gardening (?), tropical fish, cats, photography, and being British. Your boy is hella British. I mean, hella.

Geoff can tell you that you're full of shit without saying that, exactly, which is a good quality in a friend and a madmin, says me.

    Me

I'm super cool. . . that's all you need to know.

If you must know more, I'm in my mid-20s, and I kick people in the balls/ovaries when they enthusiastically say, "Ahh, those are the best years of your life!" Currently, I'm in school working on my master's degree in public policy. I know, I'm not as dumb as I look.

I like to think of myself as an INTJ but with advanced social skills. And by social skills I mean drinking too much and making a fool out of myself. If I insult you, there's a 95% chance that I'm just joking around. Go ahead, insult me back. . . Wait. Please. Don't. I'm sensitive.

    Haight

Be sure to PM him with all of your complaints. He loves that.

Haight's a pretty laid-back guy both on and off the forums. If you're curious as to whether or not he's read the non-fiction book you're currently reading, don't worry, he has it covered. Despite owning over 2000 books, Haight's grammar and spelling leaves much to be desired. He has only smoked crack a couple of times, but now he utters his mantra, "Hugs not drugs" in front of the mirror each morning. When asked to describe himself in a single word, Haight said, "complicated." However, this writer thinks that he's flattering himself a bit with that one.

Always nerdy, occasionally witty, and only slightly Jew-y. . . this is Haight.

    Me:

I'm funny, happy, loving, caring, sharing, generous, courteous, fun, handsome (and that's an understatement), friendly, kind, outgoing (okay, that's a lie), courageous, omnipresent, clean, dirty, and just a good guy all around.

    . . . *thinking*. . . Did I mention "funny"?

    Introducing nottaprettygal:

Turns out . . . she's a very pretty gal. And that twist in her username is indicitive of other twists in her online persona. For instance, she really doesn't hate you. Truth is, it's not personal, she just likes to burn you for her own entertainment. So don't feel sad. . . feel privileged. And take satisfaction in the fact that you were just burned by npg, and it actually felt good, didn't it?

On a personal note, she's the love of my life, which means you should watch your mouth because I wouldn't hesitate to ban you for messing with my woman.

And as usual. . . have a nice day.

Upon writing this paragraph, proteanmix suddenly realized she knows next to nothing about herself, which has plunged her into an existential crisis. The only way to solve the riddle of her being is to quit her anonymous cube dweller, straight-outta-college job with a kick-ass internet connection(), and begin traveling the world in search of self.

She will begin the arduous road to self-discovery at one of the Seven Tourist Wonders of the World, The Serengeti and view the great migration of animals from the comfort of a pimped out Land Rover.

She promises to bring everyone back a key chain.

    Some Fun Facts:

    1. Has dirty thoughts about certain AIM smileys.
    2. Sometimes wishes she had a prehensile tail.
    3. Should not be trusted to do laundry.

Relationships have normal ebbs and flows. They do not automatically get better and better when the participants learn more and more about each other. Instead, the participants have to work through the tensions of the relationship (the dialectic) while they learn and group themselves and a parties in a relationships. At times the relationships is very open and sharing. Other time, one or both parties to the relationship need their space, or have other concerns, and the relationship is less open. The theory posits that these cycles occur throughout the life of the relationship as the persons try to balance their needs for privacy and open relationship.

Who's tripping down the streets of the city
    Smilin' at everybody she sees
Who's reachin' out to capture a moment
    Everyone knows it's Ivy!

    And Ivy has stormy eyes,
That flash at the sound of lies,
And Ivy has wings to fly
Above the clouds, above the clouds,
Above the clouds, above the clouds!

    (Ivy apologizes for the above.)

Like cafe, I'm also a thirtysomething housewife. At the moment, that "something" is one. I have two kids, an almost-8-year-old girl and a 2-year-old-boy. (With any luck, this forum will thrive and this information will become outdated-- I encourage the reader to make note of the daystamp and adjust accordingly.) I'm married to NoahFence who sometimes posts here. I also edit and write textbooks, and occasionally I provide childcare. I'm still not sure what I want to be when I grow up, but fortunately, that doesn't seem to be something I'm in much danger of doing any time soon.

And with that, I'll say a few words about my fellow madmin, proteanmix. I don't know her too extremely well yet, but I know enough to look forward to learning more. She's hella smart (yes, I said hella, so did Eileen which makes it cooler), fun, and she don't take no guff off nobody. We're glad to have her on board and promise the hazing rituals won't kill or incapacitate her!

    I am,
    trustworthy,
    loyal,
    helpful,
    friendly,
    courteous,
    kind,
    obedient,
    cheerful,
    thrifty,
    brave,
    clean, and
    reverent.

No wait, sorry, that is the Boy Scout Law.

If you want to know more about me you can head over to that other place, where I have 10k posts, including my blog thread, or my LiveJournal, or my stupid Flickr photos. That is enough.

    Introducing Jennifer:

Jennifer is pretty cool madmin, even though his blog thread kind of freaks me out sometimes.

    A little like this -

Mac's Ego: "ZOMG! Did you read what he's going to do??? He's gonna-"

Mac's Superego: "Slow down there, who are you talking about?"

    Mac's Ego: "Jennifer! He's gonna-"

    Mac's Superego: "Woah, woah. Jennifer?"

Mac's Ego: "Yeah! We have to call someone! Call Homeland Security! Or-"

Mac's Superego: "Now why should we do that? Jennifer is finally being honest with himself. He's being brave in a way you wish you could be, right?"

Mac's Ego: "Well yeah. But I-"

Mac's Id: "Holy fucking shit! We're out of gin!"

    Hmm.

That may say more about myself than Jennifer. But I will say he's a good madmin and truly does care if you have a problem on the forum. You know, when he's not postwhoring it up.

Mac's Id: "Postwhore! Christ! You have TEN THOUSAND-"

    Shut up.

    Me

Hello, I'm Jennifer, and my mutant power seems to be the ability to avoid easy categorization.

I have been married for [a long time]. We have three children (one, two, three!). A few years ago, we also had a fish, but considering the [not so] careful ministrations of the child who was supposed to be caring for it, it wasn't long before Bob made that last fateful journey through the city plumbing system and out into the sea. (Needless to say, plaintive requests for a hamster or puppy or platypus have been summarily denied...)

I am probably one of the most stable people you will ever meet who has had an ongoing mid-life crisis since the age of ten and yet has never been incarcerated or temporarily committed.

I am also a bookophile, and the fantasy of rolling around underneath piles and piles of books makes my toes curl. (The Internet might woo my mind, but the printed word has won my heart.)

I greatly aspire to become more self-aggrandizing and one day even hope to become queen of Charn, but I have not heard back on the latter yet. <cross fingers>

As to not make this biography entirely useless, I will say that I am highly curious and love to explore. I also enjoy observing people, understanding what it is like to be them, and encouraging them to be more... THAT... or whatever it is. (Unless it's bad for them, whereupon I would encourage them to be more like Cafe or Ivy but never MacGuffin... Because there is only one Mac, and... well, you'll see.)

Did I fill my word quota yet? Good.

    MacGuffin MacGuffin

Mac is comprised of three parts -- the Ego, the Superego, and the Id -- and sometimes misspells the last one as IT.

Which is apropos, as Mac is very much a clown. A dark clown. A twisted, demented, devil-may-care, Darth-Vaderish-tottering-around-bellowing-NOoOoOooO sort of clown. But a clown nonetheless. (I remember the first time I saw him on INTPc and thought, "Gee. What a clown. And he is almost funny. Mostly. Well, I'm laughing. That counts for something. Maybe. Hic, maybe I should stop chasing those oxycontins down with goldschlager...?")

Mac is more of a postwhore than I could ever aspire to be, which is saying a lot. But most of his repetoire consists of one-liners and zingers and large bottles of cheap gin mixed with seltzer water (as a true clown would do), so the accumulation of flufferized posts makes a great deal of sense.

Despite all of these things, or perhaps because of them, Mac is a wonderful person who might actually even care about the people around him. [Sorry for revealing your secret, but I owe you.]

And his self-castigations inadvertently screwed up my life to the topsy-turvy edge of the precipice where I seem to totter now, so I have him to thank.

    Thanks a lot, Dark Clown.
