I have to say that this thread has gone exactly in the direction I had expected it to go when I departed on Friday... except just moreso (!).

I wanna see some more banter between the ENFPs and ENTP. It's fun to see watch them interact with each other. *poke poke*

Targo, the comment about your hubby made me laugh.

PS. Don't feed this ENTP. He eats. A lot. And he eats many things others would not. (I've got stories. no pictures. Just stories to raise the hair on the back of your neck and the cilia in your stomach lining.)

I described myself to J and others, once upon a time, as a "human carp." That tendency has lessened in recent years, as I've become a little more selective. Still, if there's good food on hand, I can eat compulsively. It's a comfort thing.

By rights I ought to be enormously fat, instead of just slightly fat like I am.

Jennifer's opening line is an inside joke. If she keeps poking, I may explain it for everyone.

It is rather amazing. I sit in awe of you.

(I would even say you are outstanding in your field, but I suspect you are sitting as well right now...)

Which line? The one that is reminiscent of saying you're like Oberon67, only moreso?

Yes, that one. And you would have had that job too, if you'd only accepted it instead of the other one. Think how your life might be different now if that had happened!

    Yeah, they're totally different creatures...

Curiously, they're both entertaining in their own ways...

Yes, I would have lost that job after six months and be living off lentil soup and subsisting in the fringes of Rocky Mount and playing Tolkien trivia with you every day....

hmmm. I wonder if that would be worse.

Nah...you would have kept the job and gone permanent like I did, and been more successful than me because you're more conscientious and better at making yourself focus on stuff you don't care about, and even though you hated it you would have parlayed it into a couple of years of employment and a good-looking entry on your resume.

And if you ever did come to the point of lentil soup, L and I would have fed you and your family cheerfully and happily. Lentils are cheap, after all.

We're analytical hedonists, if that makes any sense...and if I'm a valid example.

Oh dear. You're in worse shape than I thought!

Right now I feel as if I've made the role of "slacker" into an art form here. I should be doing work even right this moment. Instead I'm here laughing at you!

Well, true. I've always been really good at dressing things up.

    Um... yeah.

Did you know the first time the Y's invited C and me over, they fed us lentil soup? Neither of us had ever even EATEN lentils before... let alone would have expected it for a meal when invited somewhere. We still joke about that.

Oh, I was so hungry after that meal...

Then again, if I want to lose this weight, sigh... lentil city, here we come.

Total sense. And you seem valid, for the enneagram Seven style type of ENTP...

And if I know Targo, she could probably give you a run for your money! ENFPs seem more to be "passionate hedonists" (no negative connotation), the ENTPs are more the analytical hedonists. (The ENTP seems to analyze the pleasures in order to understand them, even as they indulge, the ENFPs just seem to immerse themselves and see whether the pleasures "feel right" or are "good ones" in the long run.)
