Are you sure you're not an 8? It would explain why you think (dis)integrating to 5 would be a bad thing. 7 integrating to 5 doesn't start isolating itself from others - "become more introverted," it just becomes more focused and more fascinated by life as opposed to being usually scattered and bored. Plus you seem more power-seeking and prepared to demonstrate it like an 8 (lion/gazelle analogy ). And the bold part sounds like denial of your inner 2 soul child, aka your vulnerable side.

That might be how it works for an ENFP but it's different being an introvert 7 that leads with Ti. Disintegrating to 1 helps me out more than integrating to 5. I'm 100% 7w8. 8 shows up twice in my enneagram so it's amplified but I'm not actually an 8. I go with my head first not my instincts. The lion/gazelle thing was more about pushing buttons for amusement and setting boundaries all 7w8 things. I'm not actually domineering and grounded like actual 8s. 8s are all sensitive and baby like at their center. I assure you I'm an asshole all the way through.

7w8s may also push other people's buttons in order to push others away, as the Eight wing is concerned with maintaining personal boundaries. Compare this to 8w7: 8w7 will attack others to maintain boundaries, while 7w8 will roughhouse with others to maintain boundaries. This aggressiveness is more playful than 8w7, although it can still be quite assertive.
Also just in case you didn't get the joke in the other thread.
