Lack of motivation, or possibly having tried too hard in the past to control their dilemmas. Can't control anything except your actions. If you can just live and stay grounded in a calmness without over-thinking, you're better off. From my experience

It's not apathy. It's selective caring.

Selective caring? Hm... 2XtremeENFP, is the apathy getting to be a real problem? Are you asking because you're trying to get closer to the ISTP, or does the ISTP need to function better?

I've become apathetic to everything after being entirely disappointed by something...something I've put a lot of effort towards that doesn't pan out. It's like I finally pick something I *DO* care about, put some good honest effort and caring into it...and it doesn't work?! Well shit, I might as well just not care or try and end up the same. Of course I live right now, so the fact that something good may have come from it in the past, isn't really something I think about. What matters is that whatever it was didn't work and that's where I am now. Now it's failure. Now I know my efforts were wasted. Why waste them on anything else?

I know of that feeling. Only, it had gotten me uber obsessed with perfecting a craft. Nothing else would matter and self-destructive tendencies would be on the prowl. When it wasn't perfect, or petered out, I'd lose...everything. People have gotta learn to keep that from happening.

Lack of open and challenging environment. Controlled and predictable environments are killer to ISTPs.

I am currently suffering from lack of motivation. I wouldn't call it apathy. And I'll 2nd the selective caring thing.
