Really? It's just a written word on a board- how can you conclude on her whole self based on a statement from someone else?

Okay, well that's different than determining type based on verb tense. I got you now.

Ni is anything but random. Making connections at random is, itself, an external Ne process. Ni works by delving deep into a given concept or idea to find its hidden meanings, and solve seemingly complex or paradoxical problems through the device of a simple change in perspective. This leads to an idea, a fixation, of how things should be, which leads to an impulse for action to change the environment into that idealized vision.

And how is that possible with Ni? By making connections where there are seemingly none to be made, based on subjective, internal data. That could be considered random.

You are getting stuck on words.

Frankly no one knows how the fuck Ni comes up with the ideas it does -- least of all those who use it. That's the essence of Ni. Ne works more explicitly by finding connections and patterns, but Ni is more about "look at it this way..."

Not a question, but a comment. I had a dream last night that Simon LeBon ( from Duran Duran ) was driving me somewhere on a date, and in the dream, I kept thinking, " Man! ISTJ jackpot!" LOL. I was so jazzed. I even woke up in a really good mood.

    Thanks ISTJ Army!

How did you guys figure out you were ISTJ? How long did it take?
What do you think defines the ISTJ best (the "essence" of ISTJ I guess)?
I'd read a profile but I don't want the stereotypes.

I found out I was an ISTJ because I randomly decided to take the MBTI test. When I compare my personality to the ISTJ description, it is a very close match. I am punctual and able to keep a level head in pretty tight situations. I am also very good with money and am very keen on deciding whether something is right and wrong.
