I know an ESTJ-ISFJ pair and an ESTJ-ESFJ pair. They seem pretty happy.

I liked MDP2525's answer too. I think that's definitely true for both ESTJs and ISTJs.

How are ESTJs different from ISTJs in leadership ability?

It really depends on the xSTJ. Just because you're one type or the other, doesn't necessarily mean you'll make a better leader. Though, from my limited experience, ESTJs are more prone towards leadership positions, just because they're more likely to be bossy and loudly opinionated, and (more importantly) they generally ENJOY being bossy and loudly opinionated. Which is why so many ESTJs are bossy and loudly opinionated for a living...

Honestly both leaders are fine, it just depends on the followers. Generally if your employees etc are introverts, I'd say the ISTJ would be good for them. The ISTJ would probably be better in a more laid back environment. The ESTJ would work well with other Es and would do fine and excel in a stressful work environment. I'm not saying ISTJs can't, but there is probably a difference.

This is all speculation though. ISTJs like to chart the course, ESTJs like to be in charge.

Sorry if I read the thread, but didn't post. I try not to type people, so I have never "officially" known an ESTJ (lots of ISTJs though). Where do you guys like to hang out? Why did you take MBTI? Why are you on the forum? How would I go about subtly manipulating people in particular ESTJ's to take the test and loudly proclaim their results? I know most of these are personal questions, but it should keep you busy and me interested right?

Thanks for doing this thread, I am sure I'll run into an official ESTJ one of these days.

ESTJs, imho, are one of the most diverse types, in terms of interests. There are ESTJs in (almost) every group. They break stereotypes left and right (which people don't usually notice, because it's the stereotypical ESTJs that catch your attention). So... in other words... we're everywhere.
Why did you take MBTI? Why are you on the forum?
My answer is probably different from that of the other ESTJs here (and they should show up at some point to answer that question, because I'm curious too! Hint hint, wickedqueen!), but I (1) took MBTI because I found it randomly and was curious and I enjoy filling out forms, and (2) joined the forum because I was reading it to answer some of my questions and saw the ESTJ bias and got so pissed off that I joined the forum just to make ONE rambling incoherent post (feel free to check it out - just look at the very last page of my post history)... and here I am, 700 posts later.

Subtlety? What's "subtlety"? But in all seriousness, I have no idea. The method that I've been using on my friends and family has been "You should take this test! It's really cool, and mind-bogglingly accurate, and helps you understand people better! And it pretty much changed my life! And did I mention that it's really cool?" And if they don't take it, I nag them

Oh, I'm sure you already have

    Fixed.

Answer: our hot bods. Have you ever seen an overweight ESTJ? We're pretty darn fit.

I think my husband is an ESTJ. I'm wondering if ESTJ's and INFP's are a good match? We are happily married, but do get annoyed with each other as I'm sure all couples do. He is not much of a talker (about emotions and feelings) and I'm always wondering what he is thinking! Wish I could see in his head!
