Unexplored? Perhaps. I know I'm picky as hell and don't like going around "seeking" women...but am very aggressive when opened up "right".

I thought the intensely picky thing was a trait lol...thank you for confirming...
    Your personality type is ENFP.
    Extraverted (E) 100% Introverted (I) 0%
    Intuitive (N) 91% Sensing (S) 9%
    Feeling (F) 90% Thinking (T) 10%
    Perceiving (P) 100% Judging (J) 0%

The only thing I regret about my past is the length of it. If I had to live my life again I'd make all the same mistakes - only sooner.

    1. What kind of personality do you take at your work and how might you guess people perceive you?

Usually, the see me as the "problem solver". I tend to be asked the hard questions, since I'm usually the one who can answer them. I do drop witty comments and jokes from time to time. Although, for some unknown reason, one of my colleagues seem to be a little hesitant to approach me... must be those feeling types.

    2. Does this personality style and perception of you represent how you would ideally like to be in your work environment? (i.e. how would you like to be perceived and what might you like to do differently in the social group that you find yourself not being able to do as often?)

So far, I've learned the value of having to do small talk... networking is somewhat important in academia too! Small talk can be learned and is not as hard as I used to think it was. I would like to be perceived as a little more approachable.

    3. How would you handle yourself in a work environment that was strongly dominated by more Fs than Ts such as yourself?

Smile, nod and process something else in my head.

How do you stay motivated to perform during your studies/job?

Mostly fear of failure... we always reach our goals no matter what, right?

Do you usually know what your next step will be? i.e. are you usually confident in your next move?

In matters of work and studies, yes. When it comes to things like wooing a girl, sadly, I'm pathetic

Do you mostly think in terms of sequencing?

    Yes.

Are you careful about your hair and do your eyes look sleepy and distant?

    Hair: Not really.

Eyes: For some unknown reason, people always say I look sleepy.

How do you befriend an INTJ? More specifically, every conversation I have with an INTJ seems to turn competitive. This is great in slightly formal/competitive environments, but in personal conversations I find a little distressing for every attempt to become a game (on both sides) of comedic one-upmanship. Is it my approach or am I misinterpreting INTJ communication?

    Great thread, btw.

If an INTJ thinks that you are a formidable debate opponent then they probably like you already. Personally, I won't waste my time debating with someone who I consider incompetent or unintelligent. And those are two qualities that I look for in a friend.

I'm not really sure what type of relationship you want that you're not getting from this person. If you want to have discussions that do not turn into debates then it's probably best to stray away from topics that are meaningful to you both (although an INTJ can turn almost every topic into a debate). But currently, it looks like debating is a hobby for this person, and he's having a fun time doing it.

Eventually, you may be surprised that the INTJ will open up to you more, and you have more meaningful, personal conversations. That could take awhile though.

I wonder what would happen if you chose not to debate with him. That could be interesting.

I fully understand every facet of every INTJ, so this isn't a thread for me.

Edit: Well there is just one thing I don't know about you personally that I need clarified. Do you like ENFP's? That is, do you feel a connection with the abstract thought processing? I find my INTJ friends to have the awesome synergy with me that I have heaerd about.

Yes. Although the extent of the synergy may differ from specimen to specimen.

Sexually powerful? In what sense? I might say sexually EXPRESSIVE, since I tend to connect to people better on that level than on an emotional level.

Slightly Dark - Probably. I've been writing poetry since I was very little and a lot of it deals with things like desperation, death, bad decisions, regrets... most of it is pretty depressing. On the other hand, despite all that, there is always an undercurrent of 'survival despite the dark' or overcoming those dark things. All of it is told in third-person, detached form, where things like Heart, Mind and Soul take on 'lives' of their own, as if being analyzed from a distance. If an emotion could be picked up, analyzed under a microscope, categorized and broken down into its basic forms you would find it done as a kind of scientific curiosity at what this particular emotion 'means'. Its all very philosophical and symbolic. For feeling types its probably difficult to read.

I definitely fit those qualifications. Yet, I explored the landscape of my sexuality and back with a fellow INTJ. In fact, it was the only area we really connected. However, I prefer introverted feelers that are openly submissive in bed, for romantic relationships.

Yes. You hit every valid point.

Don't take devil's advocate stuff out of context. Consider it a compliment that an INTJ finds you interesting or capable enough to have a discussion with. As mentioned above, INTJs have the ability to turn everything into a debate.
