Oh I should add to the discussion.

ENTPs - Enjoy the moment.
ENTJs - Enjoy their achievements. (I would rather enjoy the moment. Enjoy the little amount of years I have left.)

ENTJ are exactly like ENTPs.

Only faster
more ambition
more powerful
more successful
more dominant
more machieveillian
more intelligent
more extroverted
more fearless
more leadership
more authority
more 8w7
more everything!!!

There now you know the difference.

AND DID I SAY MORE POWERFUL!?

Only faster - (Not really, ENTPs are way more opportunistic. Thus I would argue that they are faster. I am interpeting faster in a more specific way to ease my point down your throat.)

more ambition - (Yes definitely.)

more powerful - (Power hungry. When it comes to people I would say ENTPs are more influential thanks to Fe Ne. But then again ENTJs are officially powerful, from my experience.)

more successful - (In what? scaring people off? ;))

more dominant - (YESSSSSSSSSSS, but that's not a good thing. People laugh behind your backs you know? if you are dominant.)

more machieveillian - (ENTJs are NOT machieveillianess. ENTJs are planners who plan things and see things unfold. machieveillian would LET THINGS UNFOLD and slightly push thing around to get what they want. That's ENTP. And that's machieveillian.)

more intelligent - (Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.)

more extroverted - (Noooooooooooooooooo. Barking at people is not extroverted.)

more fearless - (When there is crisis ExxPs always seem to have the best guns. And fearless applies to situations that you do not know what outcome it would result in. Such as a crisis. So who saves the day or who would survive such a situation? Meaning who is more fearless?)

more leadership - (Ne - seeing opportunities everything, combined with Ti and Fe (hugs kisses and motivation with a lot of manipulation.)

more authority – (Yes.)

more 8w7 – (Yes.)

more everything!!! – (No.)

I've noticed that too. I think the dominant Ne makes ENTPs appear more talkative than ENTJs who have dominant Te and its the talkativeness that's making ENTPs appear more extraverted. Ne rambles on and on more while Te is more straight to the point, getting rid of extraneous stuff. So ENTJ doesn't appear as talkative.

Also the tertiary functions might have some effect. ENTP has tertiary Fe which is useful for connecting emotionally with other people. ENTJ has tertiary Se which is more about action and let's just do it. So again, ENTP has a tertiary function that makes them appear more sociable, which may make them appear more extraverted.

Of course there are lots of ENTPs who claim to be near the border on E/I and ENTJs who are strong Es. But ENTPs appear more hyper when they are extraverting while ENTJs appear more calm and measured.

This is the one thing that always makes me think I am not an ENTP. I can be talkative, but everyones description of an ENTP is that they just never shut-up... I don't understand it.

Who the hell are you including in that "everyone"? Any ENTPs? I am not talkative, getting me to talk is a task, getting me to shut up takes no effort.

The ENTP in my family can be talkative but not always. He uses comedy as a way to connect with people. When he was little, he was quite shy but grew out of it by watching others and realising the value of humour (he told me this himself). But when he's deep in thought or simply doesn't feel like socialising, good luck getting a grunt out of him!

That sounds eerily like myself. I was also shy as a kid.

Honestly, I find most introverts to be the most talkative believe it or not. Once they trust you and have your full attention, they can go on for very long stretches without a single break, all while I'm slowly dying inside. I'm way too aware of "my public" and my surroundings for that. I'm too succinct.

I can be very animated and love to speak at times, but I always want it to be a lively conversation where everybody is just throwing words into the ring - not just me. And certainly not one at a time.

ENTJ: I have to finish this task, then that task, then those tasks. Then I shall go home and work on these tasks with my family. Tomorrow I will wake up and finish some other tasks which will put me in a good position to wake up on Sunday and finish the other tasks.

ENTP: When is the absolute deadline for all these tasks? Next month? OK, I'll do them next month then.

I agree, I dont think 'being talkative' is a sort of measurement that could apply to anything. If you get an introvert on his topic he'll become talkative aswell, it's a matter of the degree on which you approach.

I am talkative, if I'ld say anything else, I'd lie cause my post counter is against me, but that wasnt always so and I can have long periods of not being talkative. I learnt in life for me the amount of talking I do is proportional to how good I feel about me or in a situation

hehe :) Well I dont tend to make a difference here. If you type alot you are talkative in my book. If you arent talkative you should be so on all fronts, otherwise its self-betrayal :)

Enjoy the moment? Isn't that the ultimate Se thing? No... enjoy all moments at once. If we succeed at concentrating on the present, that's because we know it can lead to lots of interesting projects in the future. I enjoyed my stay at the Yellowstone national park because I just knew I could use those sulphur pits, giant trees and great wildlife in a story. Of course, part of my mind was trying to put them into stories already :)

Can I have your permission to make this my signature line? Haha
