Test scores mean little to nothing in this regard, they tell you how many questions you answered in favour of one over the other and many questions talk about sociability ignoring the underlying reasons for engaging in it. There are different ways to express ones extroversion.

Coming to understand my extroversion has taken longer than understanding any other aspect of my type, I can take or leave socialisation most of the time, my dominant function is Ne and I know that external things energise me so I'm certain of my preference but I did think I may have been an INTP for some time.

me too. i tested INFP for years, though i definitely lead with Ne.

you'll find that many ENxPs on the board have a similar experience, jacques. we're not always "extraverted" in the social sense, only in the cognitive sense - in that we primarily seek metal engagement outside the self, rather than preferring to engage ourselves using our own thoughts. we generally find the outside world endlessly interesting. socially we are typically ambiverts - love people and want to interact with them at times, couldn't care less at others.
