NTs have values? I thought we were too unbiased to have values!

I'm actually not sure what my values are or if I even have them -- at least not on a conscious level. My values change practically every second. I'm often very apathetic about a lot of things, or if I do value something, it's usually a burst and then it goes away to a value that is in no way related to the previous. And the pattern continues...

My values also depend on my mood, which changes almost as fast.

Ahh, what I read that as is: It is a Subjective Universal Truth in the end? am i right? I am seeing the only constant here among INTPs as "The search for truth" rather than the Truth itself, as its turning out to be very subjective.

My spelling..hahaha....Im not American, but this spell checker is

Well, to be honest, I was a bit insulted by the thread, since it seemed to suggest that we do not have real values, whereas I think that we do have very strong values. Perhaps less than the SJ's or NF's but we feel at least as strong about them.
But this may well be personal projection...

The reasons for choosing our values will differ from those of the other temperaments, I'm sure.

yes, as different as the nature of those values and how we deal with them, I suppose...

    Sarcasm, I was being sarcastic.

A good percentage of the time, I am very detached from feeling, and when I have a strong feeling about something, it tends to go away...although sometimes it will come back, and then it goes away again.

I do believe NTs choose their values rationally, rather than emotively. As in, if you were to ask any of us why we chose that value, we'd be able to give a reason for it, rather than "i feel it is so."

and yea. I think for INTPs, we tend to express things in absolute terms, but it's with the acknowledgement that it is always subjective and a work in progress: i.e., it's fine with me if others think differently; i do not have to force my views on them to be 'right'.

    just my opinion tho...

    (digression: there's a spell check here? )

Edit: a common NT value thus far seems to be truth: in all its forms--honesty, integrity, personal responsibility. Is that right?
    You gave me hyacinths first a year ago;
They called me the hyacinth girl.
Yet when we came back, late, from the Hyacinth garden,
Your arms full, and your hair wet, I could not
Speak, and my eyes failed, I was neither
Living nor dead, and I knew nothing,
Looking into the heart of light, the silence.

I choose my values based on how they will serve me.

The ones I've listed--integrity, autonomy, patience, forgiveness, humility, and wisdom--are all things I value in myself and those I keep in my life, because they make my life more rewarding.. I get great satisfaction from maintaining those values because they keep progress underway.

Not so much because patience is kind.. not because humility is right.. not because integrity is good.. just because they allow for personal growth.

Edit: But if you are referring to values in the sense of a moral compass.. I value justice. My moral compass has nothing to do with myself or serving myself.
