ROFL. You have failed the test. You do not appreciate the sense of humor of the INTP. ;)

LOL

Let's just say it's easier for me to appreciate when it's directed at someone else.

@bluemonday, I'm sure my skewed view will be corrected by interactions with more INTPs here.

Hmm.

INTPs are one letter away from INFPs. Something to appreciate there. *tumbleweeds @ joke* :cheese:

You know, weird is okay.

As long as you guys don't insist on eating all my food and just lolling about while I clean up, or cancel a dinner date in favor of playing video games, you're basically cool with me. Seriously.

See, I'm already feeling better about INTPs.

More to appreciate:

INTPs are quick-witted.

Yes, but can you do it over an Internet forum?

*hands out imaginary food, pretends to clean up imaginary mess*

Jeeze, I'd better get off this forum before I spend my entire day here.

More to appreciate:

INTPs are addictive.

Don't forget the internet access with the bowls of vodka.

Oh yeah, forgot that bit too.

*hic* I did!

Good news is this sounds less demanding than my fish. May they rest in peace.

*drinks more vodka*

Just watch out for the existential crisises.

They can be a doozy.

It's ok, I drink.

So do I.

Offtopic, but this new smiley :newwink: is LAME. I just noticed it.

In this thread's history, it was mentioned that INTPs give positive feedback, so in the spirit of positiveness, I shall provide a waypoint here in which we INTPs can pause on our journey through this thread and roll around in all the appreciation:

We are understood. Not only are we left alone at the library, they are driving so that we might continue to read en route:
INTPs are easy to carry around: just stick them in the local library, go about doing your business, and come and pick them up in the very same library hours later

(("Pie Iesu domine, dona eis requiem." * bonk * "Pie Iesu domine...")) Halt! Look! We are irresistible and can lower people's defenses with our "joyless," yet cuddly personae:
But frequently they're so obvious about it, and they're so disappointed if you don't walk into their traps, that you do it anyway just to see them smile. :)D I mean, c'mon guys, there's so little joy in their lives. I've never met a type harder on themselves than an INTP.

Our tastes are accepted:
aelan said:
They've a wry sense of humour. They won't go weepy-drippy on you. You can e.g. have a dry conversation on the best way to cook and eat a baby and wonder what it tastes like, without having moralists who miss the joke stamping in horror on it.

Let's overlook the inaccuracy of the initial, emotional outburst exhibited here and dwell upon the more realistic comments later in the piece:
Yah, the problem is they won't give feedback (whether it be positive, negative or neutral) at all voluntarily!!!!:BangHead:

...Love the irreverence, the quirky sense of humor, the circuitous thought process. Love the depth of knowledge in a topic they're interested in.

The burdens we carry are measured and known, and we are appreciated. Bask in the love from this one, comrades:
Don't you see INTP are awesome?
1) Given assignment, calculate how many humans can fit in a wolkswagen, whom else would think to calculate that an average male body has an external volume of 70 liters, giving an answer of 54.3 persons?
2) Who else would hear you whining, bitching and moaning about your stained new shirt, only to remind you how little significance does external appearances hold to any of the life's important issues?...They love information so much as to practically lead the world to the most profound new solutions to anything. This is the same as the greatest care for the human kind.

Others love humanity by given a coin to a beggar, comforting a child and giving money to charity. INTP love humanity by contributing their life's work to something too big for mostly anyone to understand. They're the most self-sacrificing - they don't generally get their reward immediately, not in popularity, not in many ways.. but they live for the moment to see their big plans coming together..

Apart from doing traditional "good" to humanity, they just see the most untraditional ways to doing anything. Isn't it enjoyable? Aren't new perspectives what we all want? Want someone uncheatable? They're the guardians of all the information we have. We love everything they produce. Whom are we to bitch about how they appear when judged through completely other functions, when the last they care about is appearance?

They're too good for our world.

I've spoken.
Spoken so eloquently, too. Let's spare this one.

Insightful and brilliantly expressed:
Maybe sorta like "so brilliantly radiant [or radiantly brilliant?] that mortal beings cannot look at us and live."
Yeah. That.

Bask, comrades! There has been blessed spillage.

It's difficult for me to express appreciation for INTPs without spilling NF all over the place...

Healthy, curious, mature INTPs are fantastic creations that would cause me to believe in a loving, creative, mind-blowingly beautiful God when nothing else would.

(Which is delightfully ironic, given the propensity of INTPs on these forums to express die-hard atheism.)

Keep an eye on and escort this one to the side room for now. Prone to extroversive excitement, but could be a decent ambassador.
I WUV INTPs! They're so quirky and fun! My first boyfriend was a INTP and since then I've had many a INTP friend. INTPs are my favorite of the NTs because unlike other NTs, INTPs are so friggin' cute! Emotionally clueless...socially awkward...intellectually brilliant...and yet so so laid-back and indifferent to their awesomeness! :D Hurray for INTPs!

Pardon my inward focus and nostalgia, but I feel so understood. May the Great TP always be a welcome haven for you.
I don't know what type Cleese is, but I think the Python humor definitely appeals to the INTP personality, as does Blackadder. It's silly, yet extremely clever.

I think MST3K is very INTP-like humor. I'd be surprised if those guys weren't mostly INTPs.

So much logic and insight. We are INTP. Here us roar!
I think we feel emotions more intensely than others, so much so that we need to suppress them in order to function properly. I've also put a lot of time and energy into building an internal structure as I'm sure many other INTPs do.
We also try to separate ourselves from the world in order to understand the properties of a person and the echoes they create. On top of all that, the drive for further understanding is one that could potentially leave an INTP malnourished, sleep deprived, and self-destructive.
So I would say we experience the Fe, Si, Ne and Ti both individually and collectively at an intensity that most other types wouldn't even comprehend.

Way to encourage the troops!
Plus, since she was INTP, there's a 99.9% chance she's hot too.

It is lovely to have this personality. INTJs, though, are lovable in their own ways, especially when adoring us. We should keep them.
 No one is completely a stereotype. Though, I'd never admit not being the best at anything other than INTPs. I have a soft spot for them. I've just known so many really amazing ones. So bright. And whimsical at the same time. It must be lovely to have that kind of personality.

Top level logic and street-smart instinct here:
...they [INTPs] are the most consistent, honest and objective type around...this ability often leads them to generate very innovative ideas...ideas I admittedly would not have been able to generate. When you make logical sense to them, they don't care whether you're a cholera-infected tramp or a CEO, they will take you seriously... I also like their grumpy style and go with the flow attitude. :D And they possess an endearing naiveté that I sometimes recognise in myself as well...
All in all:

This one! This one! Lock up this listener in a vault so that we might unceasingly storm the brain:
...have you seen intps talking about something they are interested in, their enthusiasm is kind of contagious when they do open up that is.(My brother would lock me up to talk about science and keep talking even when I wasn't that interested, if something didn't make sense it was all bullshit to him xD we had a few heated arguments but he'd take things objectively and we'd just move on. Loveable type the intps :D)

Let us continue to let this one dwell on topic and have fun:
i love being around INTP's. i honestly think they may be the smartest of all the MBTI's. INTJ's are similar but INTP's are willing to dwell in the question, and that could lead to better insight. as rare as INTP's are, i find myself bumping into them all the time. always have great fun with them.

As long as you guys don't insist on eating all my food and just lolling about while I clean up, or cancel a dinner date in favor of playing video games, you're basically cool with me. Seriously.

I say, after all this reading, we journey to hathor_sekhmet's place for refreshments and games. Enjoy.

put of all the types, INTP's are the one type i am most likely to be able to have a philosophical conversation with. i dot mean amateur "god doesn't exist and the war is bad" shit either. be it political theory, ethics, philosophy of mind... any topic, as long as they find it interesting they're willing to talk about it. it doesn't even matter if they never thought too much about it before.

i wish more people were willing to do this without asking

1. what's the point

2. it's too airy fairy

or
3. what can i possibly offer if i've never thought about it before

I must be mistyped - those are 3 of my all time favourite questions/statements.
Offtopic, but this new smiley :newwink: is LAME. I just noticed it.

But..but...but...it's Mom's favourite wink guy
And if I were to have a favourite wink guy, It would be him.
Just the right amount of winkiness without any hint of wankiness (XD :don't)

I love this place. Seriously.
