WEAK! Weak I tell you, weak! :steam:

Don't you people know that Ti is awesome?

That's the *real* thinking skill. Yes, REAL one. Other functions we just call "thinking" as we're condescending enough to give others a taste of what we do :rofl1:

1) If anyone goes to war, Ti just wins. It just does. Forget what is (in)considerate or (un)popular. This reminds of the reality. Yes, you can't campaign the other party to death with a great haircut and a round ass.
2) Forget what those green organic food loving advocate groups tell about wind power and anything whatnot. They tell you're gonna change the world by wasting your money on bad food you're gonna pay your arm and leg for. Check with Ti, see if it's helping or hurting the nature.
3) Just skip whatever "rules-of-thumbs", traditions or any sub-par decision maker strategies you've adopted. They're all wannabe Ti replacements. Go for the real thing. Ti rocks.

Ne.

1) You want to be considered a hard-working citizen? :rofl1: Eh, why don't you stop bragging about how "practical" or hard-working you are! How about resting your butt on a comfy couch, inventing the best string to pull and getting your job done with practically no effort?

Thought so

Don't you see INTP are awesome?
1) Given assignment, calculate how many humans can fit in a wolkswagen, whom else would think to calculate that an average male body has an external volume of 70 liters, giving an answer of 54.3 persons?
2) Who else would hear you whining, bitching and moaning about your stained new shirt, only to remind you how little significance does external appearances hold to any of the life's important issues?

Getting serious, whom else is like this?

No laughter there, serious.

They love information so much as to practically lead the world to the most profound new solutions to anything. This is the same as the greatest care for the human kind.

Others love humanity by given a coin to a beggar, comforting a child and giving money to charity. INTP love humanity by contributing their life's work to something too big for mostly anyone to understand. They're the most self-sacrificing - they don't generally get their reward immediately, not in popularity, not in many ways.. but they live for the moment to see their big plans coming together..

Apart from doing traditional "good" to humanity, they just see the most untraditional ways to doing anything. Isn't it enjoyable? Aren't new perspectives what we all want? Want someone uncheatable? They're the guardians of all the information we have. We love everything they produce. Whom are we to bitch about how they appear when judged through completely other functions, when the last they care about is appearance?

They're too good for our world.

I've spoken.

Lately I've been trying to find intps, you don't meet them all too often. Now I realise where they all are, they're on this thread talking about how great they are.

Good work on dispelling the arrogance stereotype, guys.

I'll note for the record that you read it, so... join the club? :nerd:

I'd also suggest, if you're not joking, that you take a moment and scan the forums for the multiple other appreciation threads.

INTPs are excellent people (as long as they are on the same wavelength as you).

The analysis available to INTPs (in general) tends to take each and every subject way past the surface to the inner workings which gives fascinating perspectives on things... usually.

In small doses they are great. I love their minds but too many (INTPc) at one time is annoying.

My favorite INTPs are Jennifer, Rajah, Raincrow007, and Xander. I know there are others I am missing. If I remember I'll post up later. :alttongue:

What good points do they potentially have by definition of their type, that don't rely on them having high IQ's?

Well...

1. They seem to tend towards loyalty to people they care about (in terms of actions) quite strongly, although it's difficult to earn their trust in the first place.

2. They aren't demanding socially, expecting you to go places all the time when you'd rather sit home and read a book.

3. They can say very strange/random things like ENTP's, while seeming more serious/somber at the same time. Which can be entertaining.

I'd say repressed sexual aggression.

Well I don't like to brag...

Anyway, I'm gonna flip this around and say what makes being an INTP good to me!

1. Crazy sense of humor - I can take a random topic, string it along deliberately insane, yet logical, lines for a good half hour and plunge directly into its over-the-top conclusion, all while keeping an intensely straight face and batting away all opposition. It's the occassional person who "gets" the joke that I savor and keep as a friend.

2. Intense love for knowledge - I can understand, retain and call forth vast amounts of information on a wide range of topics simply because, at least at the time, I was deeply passionate about them. The sheer sensation of following a line of learning is easily better than five tons of cocaine (or so I've been told...) This doesn't make me SMARTER, it just gives me an edge to appear so.

3) The Simple Life - While I can see my life is a complex series of interrelated events, emotions and thoughts, it is not complicated to me. I feel very little need to build elaborate walls hiding what I feel or think, to add little twists or lies that only make me harder to read. I know I can appear inscrutable to others, but it is not because I've tucked anything away in dark corners. I tell people that I am an open book, but they need to take the initiative to read me.

Really? We kinda suck at detail work, we like to leave that for our drones, er, Sensor compatriots.

I meant more along the lines of making sure my thesis/argument actually gets my point across, not worrying about my grammar usage. I can have an INTP tell me straight up if it's a bad paper or not.

I appreciate that most of them are so socially inept that seeing them makes me feel good about myself after I've gotten depressed from comparing my social skills to most ESxx types. I can always count on people appreciating my positive traits more after having to deal with one of them. Does that count?

Glad I could help athenian! :)

(Maybe I want to keep smiley-(ab)using Ts a rare commodity? :D)
Thanks, good idea! :D :)

Fi (along with Ni) are not functions I use or even understand all that well.

Since it is supposed to be the lead function for INFPs, this is the reason I rejected the idea I could be INFP (despite T being the weakest of my functions).

I could see ISTP easier. Or ENTP. Similar functions.

Not to piss on anybody's chips, but the good points people are bringing up about INTP's seem to tend to rely on the INTP in question also being highly intelligent. And I know that not all INTP's are highly intelligent. When one is, it's great... sometimes.... but they're not all geniuses.

While not all of us are geniuses, 99% are at least near geniuses or above.

a schlock jock

But who knows. Maybe in real life you're a nice guy.

Your data set is limited.

(I typed this part of my post with my penis.)

Correct me, but didn't we deign to create an MBTI forum for the rest of you unwashed knuckledraggers, like unto Adam's gift of a rib?

QFT

But alas, Oh humble one, was it not the romantic NFs who created the system in the first place?! :pornstar:
No!

Now go back to writing poetry.

I do not know.
I ask my helper in the truck.

You so crazy!

Lately I've been trying to find intps, you don't meet them all too often. Now I realise where they all are, they're on this thread talking about how great they are.

Good work on dispelling the arrogance stereotype, guys.

You're welcome.

My favorite INTPs are Jennifer, Rajah, Raincrow007, and Xander. I know there are others I am missing. If I remember I'll post up later. :alttongue:

We had a vote, and the INTPs only claim two of the above. You guess the two.

I meant more along the lines of making sure my thesis/argument actually gets my point across, not worrying about my grammar usage. I can have an INTP tell me straight up if it's a bad paper or not.

Oh I see, we do the thinking for you without needing co-authorship credit.

You are also welcome.

Thanks for the replies! If I didn't quote yours, flirt harder.

P.S. I am awesome.

From those choices, it would be easier for you to be a starfish. Or Songbird.

Classy. I bet your Enter key is all worn down now.

Um....Tiny Tim and Stacy "Fergie" Ferguson?

Oh I see, we do the thinking for you without needing co-authorship credit.

It's still plagiarism, no matter how you look at it...

Hmm. I know this isn't a serious thread, but It's a good time nonetheless to undo some misconceptions.
Many people shy away from typing themselves as prefering extraverted thinking, because they think that it's "because I said so" thinking. It's not. It's just pragmatic and objective thinking. Measuring and calculating, most prefferably in a way that no one can dissagree with. But if you ask an extraverted thinking type 'what is a number'?, they might go 'uhhh...' or 'what kind of a stupid question is that?', or 'get out of my office, I'm too busy for this shit'.

By why when I here people blabbing and blabbing about how damn logical they are, I take note of it being extraverted thinking. Both attitudes are "Pure" logic (a myth about that seems to have sprung up somewhe).

Jung sez that both thinking attitudes have to exist, because without extraverted thinking, introverted thinking seems arbitrary, and without introverted thinking, extraverted thinking seems like dull and banal.

One one one INTP's are my favorite type to have a conversation with. In groups it can take a while before you realize that INTP's are intolerable. (And no I am not referring to INTPc.) INTP's shine when they are solo.
