[NT] Do NTs have less testosterone?

Just an another entp crazy thought... Maybe because we born with less testosterone than others, we all had a childhood with a lack of interest and energy in sports, and prefering to stay reading, daydreaming, thinking, solitary stuff, etc... and grew and develop a personality that favours thinking over doing, mind over body (at least in my case)
dont get me wrong, I enjoy playing basketball, swimming, pingpong, once in a while, but I prefer staying indoors and stimulate my mind :cheese:
But I always wanted to try skydiving :)

If that theory had any validity, it would immediately come under intense scrutiny considering your ESTP cousins are some of the most testosterone laden creatures on this planet.

Considering that the vast majority of NT's are male... for starters...

I was an NT when I didn't have enough testosterone. I've been taking large doses of testosterone injections for the past 9 years and I'm still an NT, perhaps even more so.

No, I don't think this theory holds any weight, sorry! :)

I do have an ESTP cousin, Exactly LIKE ME; impatient, charming, clever (streetsmarts) attention seeking, etc but different, he enjoys and do cool outdoor stuff instead of the boring stuff I do... :( and have energy to any physical stuff, and repair things.
I even cant defeat him in debates and argue with him!! imagine that? and entp?? losing and debate?? if I gain an upperhand finding a logical flaw or giving him facts, he just says: so what? smartass? and people believe him more than me... :( but I admire him a lot

My boyfriend is a hairy chested INTJ male, he's aggressive and pretty damn masculine hence, I find no sign of lacking testosterone with him, nor other NTJs, I'd presume.

Male INTPs, on the other hand, well, are a bit... hmm, foppish.

A common misconception. After nine years of absurdly high doses, no discernible increase in aggression has been noted in me. In fact, quite the reverse...

Also, to be hairy you only need to have HAD a normal amount of testosterone, not a high amount, at any point in your life enough to start the growth off, then it follows genetic patterns as time goes by, regardless of how your T levels rise and fall.

Maybe it's just Se-deficient types this happens to? SJs and NPs?

Sorry but all this crap about linking stereotypical "masculine" behaviour with testosterone is smacking all too much to me like the same kinds of mentalities that sent gay people into asylums in times gone by, and forcibly injected them with testosterone in the belief this would "cure" them. Note: it always failed.

So then why would the majority of NTs be men?

Barring any medical conditions, mens' and womens' testosterone levels don't overlap. Womens' are always much lower. And yet there is substantial overlap between the genders in personality traits such as aggressiveness, competitiveness, interest in sports, physical activity, etc. The reason is that hormones are only one influence on behaviour and personality and interests. There are far more that have nothing to do with hormones.

Even something like body hair is not a direct measure of testosterone levels. Some hair follicles are more sensitive to hormones than others. That's why some women can sprout a few long stray hairs on the chin, or why some can get noticeable hair growth on the toes, etc. It's not that their androgen levels are anywhere near those of most men, their follicles might just be more responsive to lower levels.

Humorously enough, in the last new pop personality system we discussed here -- the one that attached one of four archetypes to one of four biochemicals (dopamine, testosterone, estrogen, and I think serotonin) -- the Director type correlates most to NT and is the one attached to testosterone.

(The theory could be complete hogwash, it's just funny to see it in complete disagreement to this supposition.)

Oh, never thought of that

Just don't tell Arnold Schwarzenegger, Lance Armstrong, or Edwin Moses. They might kick your ass. :D

I doubt it. Besides what has already been mentioned, personally I have always loved physical activities, climbing in particular.

From what I understand, testosterone is linked primarily, not to aggression, but to competition, and most NTs I know can be very competitive in the areas that they are interested in.

if baldness is found in more NTs, then I'd suspect testoserone to be involved.

Hope some nice gay porn came out of that experiment, lol :)

Not sure about testosterone but I seem to have less adrenaline than other people.
