Who needs sleeping pills when you've got poems
It gives me the pulse of garden gnomes

As NTs, all you guys probably love it
But I'd like to tell those cliche-kings to shove it

Tell me I'm not the only one
who thinks poetry's no fun

I'm taking a class on writing, so pleeeeaasse
don't blame me for getting into this messs...zzzzzz....

Poetry is often so boring,
That I quickly find myself snoring.
Probably smoking a joint
Is why they can't get to the point--
Which is why I'll continue ignoring.

I sometimes enjoy reading poetry, but I'm terrible at writing it.

Heh, I write poetry occasionally, but I usually dislike reading it. It's not that there aren't good poems out there, it's just that there's usually something more interesting I could be focusing my attention on.

Your post reminds me of Mein Kampf.
Please.

Is architecture boring?
It depends on the architecture.
Is poetry boring?

Fill the line. It never ends.

Really, people, poetry is great
So I just can't understand
How you can think it boring
And some of you even start snoring
When there's Cummings and Eliot;
Majakovski is a riot;
Frost is fantastic and Cohen?
Cohen is just amazing.

So there.

Yea I always thought poetry was pretty useless zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

The worst was when we had to "interprete" poetry in school. Though after a time I had memorized some standard phrases that would kind of fit pretty much any poem.

3w4?
I suppose it does
Or, at least most of the time
But not always so

Yes. Films, books, art, conversations, buildings and landscapes are also boring. Oh and games too.

I like funny poetry and poetry with a clue, moral, a significance.

I've written some poetry, although not much, and not for some years. The poetry I've written obviously are of great significance to me personally, and therefor are awesomesauce.

My interest in poetry starts at dogrel and ends at dirty lymerics. While they sometimes make me laugh, I can't ever recall being "moved" by a piece of poetry.

Le yawn...just get to the point already. I don't care if the ocean is like a sparkling sapphire.

Boring poetry is boring. I don't think there's anything more to say.

There are short and to-the-point poems too, ya know.
Your failure to capture the essence does not mean it's not there though.

Yeah, most poems I find boring. I think cute little rhymes or anything with a purpose or comedy are alright, it's just been drilled in my head that when I think of poems, I think of Romanticism.

My favorite poem happens to be one of the longest ones I've ever read.
Here's an excerpt: Sun Stone

Poetry is a lot like food... If you're hungry it's wonderful, if you're full it's pretty boring and sometimes even repulsive.

I almost made a post to agree with the OP but then I read the thread and was impressed by the best examples of ample wit writ.
