    This will not end well...
But it will at least be poetic, I suppose...

Hmm... But what if it does end well?
Then I suppose it will be a different sort of poetry, a preferable sort...
A sort I could become accustomed to...

If you could be anything you want, I bet you'd be disappointed--am I right?

    Step 1: lack of resources
    Step 2: conflict

That's pretty much what it all boils down to.

War doesn't work. People work to do war. People get greedy- for power or resources or both or something else- so they demonize someone or somewhere so that they can get their greed fullfilled, and then they act upon it. And this starts war, it could be personal, insitutional, between full nations, or anyone.

I never understood why people think war is a uniquely human endeavor stemming from our flaws. It's no different for us than it is for any animal. We're just capable of more.
