My first day at work at an IT company (1996) was interesting. They had me FDISK, format, and re-load Windows 3.1X from 32 floppy disks. By the end of that day I had MS Office on the machine and was typing up invoices. One month later Windows 95 came out and my company bought the MSDN subscription. Then we went nuts, selling one of the first document imagin/document management applications with a web client. Ahhh, IE 3.12, thank you for making my career possible! :bananallama:

Man, the earliest versions of Windows were tiling window managers. Why that ever changed is beyond me. Now we're all stuck with floating window management, which is just plain terrible

Whatever. Anytime I'm on a Linux machine, I just load up wmii and savor that tile-based perfection.

I prefered Dos, and making dos .bat menus, as well as using F11 during start up in a specific order to retain as much of the 640Kb of memory as possible in order to play certain games using all kinds of mem programs and other tricks.

Those were the days.

My favorite is Windows RG (really good edition!)

The full version can be found here: WinRG in FULLSCREEN!!

Make sure to run it fullscreen and give it to a friend to try out after telling them yeu've just upgraded their system!

Does anyone remember Geoworks Ensemble? It was my first GUI equipped "OS". It technically required MS-DOS to run, but it was very esthetically pleasing compared to Windows 3.1.

I was a kid when we got our first computer. It was a Packard Bell (386) with Windows 3.1. I preferred using Dos though.

Yay Windows 3.11! I wanted to install it on my machine for nostalgic reasons (running it in DOSBox) and I still have the original disks - but no floppy drive to insert them .

I still use the DOS command prompt though, even in Vista. Nothing is better if you want a quick search.
