    In my case, a more accurate model would be a web. The web has no true center. An approach may have an temporal and arbitrary center, but it's just a point in the continuum of ideas. I'd also make this web 3-dimensional. There are concepts that are interwoven in each level, but each level uses these concepts differently.

    I'm something of a linear thinker, but my thinking isn't defined by the "narrowing down" approach.
    I agree with this model more then the one in the OP. Even when I'm working towards a goal I always sidetrack.

    Correct me if I'm wrong, but I always saw Ne as expanding from the root to the tips while Ni is following the path from the tips to the root.

    The bottom - up direction of that diagram is exactly how I think. My thoughts are pretty organized and I always place them under specific categories. Especially when I learn something new I sort visualize this type of structure in my head and add in this new piece of information under the right branch. I don't know.. is that Te.. or Ti?

    Too funny that I should come across this on here. About a week ago I was having a discussion with another INTJ about why we think differently. He was over (and over, and over) analyzing a possible relationship and wondered why he made things so complicated. My diagram looked like this: (I re-did it as best I could for this thread... the original was on a Post-it note lol).

    The disconnected lines are things that are just WAY out there and completely impossible, yet we've thought of them anyway. Plus sometimes the logic is circular and we get stuck in a loop... (we're software people, sorry) And for each branch of logic there are a million side-tracks to take and investigate. We both agreed it was pretty accurate.

    Hmm I tend to think in a linear fashion but mine is not as hoslistic as the diagram. I usually start from an interesting or somewhat dissonant proposition, then I break it down (like the little nodes of the diagram). Then when I got the little nodes all defined properly and pat down, I reassemble them to form the single "Truth" large node.
