I've been called a nerd (no, not just by friends being goofy). My ISTP brother is a nerd.

I've done it, but the moderators don't really care for when I do that.

    Talk about illogical thinking.

[QUOTE=MBTI is supposed to indicate your natural preferences, not what you want to be. Also, NTīs donīt always like to be detached. We are probably naturally the most detached temperament, but we still have feelings and can most certainly feel alone and be sad by that.[/QUOTE]

I am new to these forums, and have just started reading up about personality types last night...but I agree with this statement. And I think TGK gave you great advice for improving social interaction. It can be difficult to connect with other people but it isn't impossible. I'm not super close with many people but do have a nice, small circle of people that I trust (and some of them I can go without seeing for years and we'll hang out one night and it's like there was no pause).

I highly recommend looking for social activities that focus on something that interests you. I am an artist so I joined a drawing group and would participate in art fairs. The acquaintances I made through those venues led me to friends that I am now fairly close to. Also keep an open mind. Sometimes people you might think you could never connect to may surprise you in a positive way.

And I gotta agree with the comments about drinking, that can help a bit too.
