    Duh.

I think you misinterpreted what I said, and did it badly.
Does my reasoning imply that I have a shortsighted view on things?
I think it would be the opposite. I always tend to look at things and try to see how they will develop, and I think the long-term perspective is the right one.
I'm against short-term stuff without proper testing, and I have never implied differently.

What I said is that we need to experiment if we're ever going to develop anything useful. People who are against research = asshats.
All alterations are not bad ones. Real progress can be made.

Please, stop making lots of assumptions that require a ton of time and effort to straighten out.

The reality of somatic research require longatidinal method beyond generation... Which by nature limits application in terms of speed, which for this type of ntervention is an absolute pre-requiste.

As for real progress and be made, so can real distruction... Just because something is possible doesn't mean its in the species intereste to do so.

Please stop being personal or I will get personal back, it is totally unessesary and lower my opinion of you

    Hey, you started it.
I had this note with a sign in big red letters in my first post. It said I didn't want to discuss it. Then you wrote and got things wrong, assumed things that was not said, I said how you got things wrong, you freak out and think of it as personal.
It is not personal, I have no idea of who you are.
I never asked for your opinion on the matter, and I don't want it.
The reason that I wrote back is because I don't want others to get me wrong, too.

Just stop writing about this, OK? It is redundant, as it was from the beginning.
This thread isn't even about discussion. It' about stating one or several theories about what we personally think will be the next "flat earth" thing.

It was not in my signature, it is part of my first post.
Seriously, you need to read stuff before you comment.

Just quit it. I will not respond beyond this post.

I took it for your signature, but it still doesn't negate the agression in your posts... its not nessery you often have intersting views but make it look shit by saying - "They should go and live with the Amish and other fools" "research = asshats" and the sarkiness, not nessesary....

I mostly hope that excess consumption (obviously, "excess" is an arbitrary term; what I mean is: overeating to the point of obesity, buying 5 cars while being on debt, etc.) and the associated over-work of part of the population will naturally come to an end. I think that realizing this could let us re-distribute the resources (not in a socialist way! Just the individuals thinking for themselves, building associations out of own will, etc) in such a way to foster sustainable progress and happiness for everybody (well, most people at least. Excessively populated and extremely infertile (in terms of land) countries seem quite doomed, but you never know). I think we will look like foolish little ants (not everybody of course, just part of the population) trying to build bigger and bigger hives and amass more and more food without any real danger or need, trying to beat the next hive.

@YourLocalJesus: that's the kind of thinking that could be solved with my usual proposed remedy a nice beach, sunny climate, palms, coconuts and girls in bikini

That's why there is a thing called "experimenting", and also "controlled environment".
As in: performing experiments in secure testing facilities.
If the results aren't great... Don't use it.
    If it benefits mankind... YAY.
    Totally agree.

Where would all this funding be, you ask?

    Research would replace social security.

This thread is doomed to explode into a flame war. "Postulate what you think are misconceptions about things we base reality off of. Oh, and be nice."
